Folks, I'm gonna have to preface this one with a few caveats[/I] before I proceed:

Caveat #1: This game was badly officiated. Baby-faced Wisconsin grabbed, arm-barred, held our cutters and ran moving screens galore (basic Big-10 basketball - remember Illinois in '05?). Hell, I counted 5 uncalled fouls on just ONE of our possessions. And Brice might have actually committed one of the fouls he was called for.

My favorite Tweet was the one that said, "We need to hire MJ." How great is that?

That guy is just dumb. In every UNC loss --- every single one --- he blames the officials. He's like a broken record.

As for Roy, he's a great coach. I don't think most UNC fans are asking for his head. Just the stupid one's. We had a similar bump in the road from 2007-2009 where we didn't get out of a single Sweet 16 either. What happened in 2010 made most of us forget about it....just like getting to a Final Four this year would take a lot of sting out of losses to Lehigh and Mercer.

More than anything else, Cal has hurt Roy. It's not the coaching....it's the recruiting. Roy was kicking *** and taking names before Cal came along at UK. For whatever reason, much like that aforementioned stretch for Duke and K, landing the top kids isn't happening right now. But still, and again like with us in 2010, UNC will return its entire core in 2015-16....a year that looks, on paper, to be somewhat down by traditional college basketball standards.

I'd say UNC is one of the five or six favorites heading into next season. If I'm a fan I can live with that.

Least self-aware fans on the planet. The dolt references Illinois and the '05 team. That was the unx squad with 9 AFAM majors...including McCants who made the Dean's List one semester despite attending zeo classes. Melvin Scott (AFAM major) made an All ACC academic team that year too. The Holes shouldn't have even been in the title game that year and if there's a shred of justice in this world , the '05 banner ( & '93 & '09 ) will come down.

Roy is really good, but K owns him, and Cal is killing him on the recruiting trail (as DJ pointed out).

If I'm a Heel fan I wouldn't want anyone else as my coach until Roy hangs it up, but as a Duke fan I don't want to see him go because he's just too much fun to have around...and K owns him.

They are spoiled by success, just as we are. Cannot ask for Roy's head. The guy actually got these kids to buy in by the end of the year. And if none of them leave, they have a real shot at doing something special next season.

Does he have his issues? Sure. All coaches do. But who would replace Roy right now...amid the NCAA stuff to boot? Dumb fans are everywhere...Carolina just has a lot of them.

Roy is quite simply the best person for that job right now. he still preaches the Dean way and really does not care what others think. they have 6 MCD all americans so hes recruiting is still good. he coaches the way he always has. and he wont change. he has been ultra successful. to ask for his head is stupid.

Wral posted a poll on their Facebook page asking if Roy should be fired then later posted an apology because UNC fans went crazy over it.

I really think that most of the people that post on the tarhole site are in middle school.. Adults can't be that dumb about basketball and make that many excuses. OFC

Unreal. An apology from WRAL. Were it aimed at Duke and fans complained , I'm sure the station would do the same. My azz. BTW...while we're on the subject , let's address the elephant in the room. Roy SHOULD be fired...just not for losing a Sweet 16 game. His complicity in a decades-long scam is more than enough reason boot 'im. Speaks volumes that unx fans don't consider that a fireable offense.
