Illini head wrestling coach on ‘indefinite administrative leave’ amidst U of I investigation​

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Illini head wrestling coach Mike Poeta is on indefinite administrative leave as of Friday, Illinois Athletics announced.
In a brief statement, Associate Athletic Director Derrick Burson said the university is investigating potential violations of Poeta’s employment agreement, stemming from “possible noncompliance with University fiscal control policies.”

Assistant coach Jeremy Hunter will serve as acting head coach. Burson said Poeta will remain away from the program while the investigation happens

I hate seeing this as Mike is a truly great guy imo. I hope it is more of an over reaction/fact finding situation rather than a termination. He has been putting together a pretty solid group of wrestlers these past couple of years.
