Had the first case in NKY, neighboring county to me today...I have a feeling I may be knowing someone soon...I surely hope not though.

Two people from my wife’s office and department tested positive. She along with others have been home serving the mandatory 14 day self isolation protocol. My future brother in law has all the symptoms, he’s in the hospital right now being tested.

Someone you actually know and have spoken to in your life.
I, for one appreciate you having the cracker jacks to ask this question! It’s a VERY important question, and one many don’t want to confront the truth with.

For reference, CNN and Fox News reports 8700 infections, and 149 deaths in the USA. That’s a mid size suburb in Lexington, Kentucky! Across the entire country of 330+ million!

Wake up Cat fans!

Are you in Charlotte, or Raleigh, or somewhere else?

I thought this was a good place to ask. We have a lot of fans and many on this board post from around the country and around the globe.

I left the option in to change your vote, because I do anticipate a shift in the coming days, but I agree with your general sentiment.

I live in a large metro area, and have lived in 4 other large metro areas. I’ve yet to be made aware of anyone I know who has this.

I’ve spoken to Kaylee Hartung and Kevin Durant - does that count? I don’t know them, but have spoken to them. Also talked with Barkley, but the jury is still out on whether he has it or no.

personal life - no.

I bet if I asked if you knew someone laid off from the restaurant industry, the % of “yes” answers would be higher.

today was a very rough day. Very rough. The next month will probably be the most difficult in my life.

I hate this for you.

And I hate to think that we will look up in the near future, surrounded by only large, corporate restaurants.

mom & pop are getting destroyed and the restaurant industry is one place where they previously could survive and even thrive.

37,824 total tests conducted to date in the entire United States And Territories including Guam (CDC data).

This is an meaningless question today,
because right now very close to zero percent of the people in America who have Covid-19 know that they have Covid-19.

Ask us again in 3–4 weeks.

it’s not meaningless to those who have it or those who know someone who has it.

you can change your vote to “yes” if/when you know someone.

I doubt it. Only 0.005% of the entire world has coronavirus so it should be rare to know someone with it.
This. We are still very much on the front end of the curve. In a country of over 330 million with less than 10 thousand confirmed cases, the odds are not that great we know someone who has it yet. In reality though, I am confident there are many more cases out there not yet diagnosed and we may know someone who has it but just doesn't know it yet. But for me, for now, it is a no. Unfortunately, I look for that to change for most all of us and sooner rather than later.

Well, good point. Certainly the answers are meaningful in the sense that we can pray for anyone we know has it.

Just meaningless in the sense that right now we could easily all answer “no” and find out later that we actually all knew people who probably already had it when we voted. The percentage of Americans who know for sure right now whether they do or don’t have it is too small to be statistically meaningful for population health analysis, confident severity rates, etc., is all I meant.

So, in other words, utterly meaningless as a poll.

And, again, the desire to want to know is not meaningless; that’s reasonable. It’s the answers that are statistically meaningless, so far. And in that vein, “meaningless” is probably too gentle a phrase. “Invalid” is the correct phrase. Right now your poll shows that about 13% of us know people who have Coronavirus.

But it’s overwhelmingly unlikely that that’s true.

What’s true is that right now 13% of us know someone who is part of the tiny percentage of people who both have it and know they have it. That’s fine information. But not when it’s labeled as being all the people we know who have it. Chances are next to nothing it’s really that.

475 more deaths in Italy yesterday alone. The number has been rising nearly every day. I agree....wake up to what could be heading our way.

My sister who is a nurse practitioner at a prominent hospital in Cincinnati and also just so happens to have a compromised immune system is currently hunkered down at home with a cough and 103 degree temperature. Crazy f-in thing is her own hospital will not test her. They told her they needed confirmation she had hand to hand contact with a confirmed carrier. Basically told her good luck call 911 if you have respiratory issues. Gotta love that loyalty........

I voted no and i asked the same question on FB and no one knew anyone that had it. I think it has been here longer than we think and we just did not know what it was and call it the flu.

In Nov. and Dec. many people had something and it took them a little longer to get over it. I really think this is overblown and we are letting fear get the best of us. I'm 74 years old and in very good health and i am not afraid to go our and live my life as usual. We just need to use common sense (something a lot of people are lacking) and get over the fear.

It's impossible to know for sure, since it's still nearly impossible to get tested for it. I do know this: Last Thursday afternoon a coworker of mine (who sits 10 feet from me) said he wasn't feeling well. He went straight to his doctor. The doctor gave him a flu test, which came back negative. He has been self-quarantined at home, with a fever and dry cough. He's terrified that his pregant wife will get whatever it is he has. We both live in NKY.

No, and I hope the answer is never yes. Probably not realistic, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there. My parents are 62,63 and mom has several different conditions that wouldn't fare well. My uncles on both side are 68, 73, 75, 79, 81, 82, 84, and 85. I don't know all of their health history's. Also have an Aunt in there as well. Then 2 newborns in the family.Other cousins between the ages of 45-55 as well.
