Despite my fun with the nicknames I know Duke has more to prove, but as a fan we have to like this game.

  • Amile Jefferson seems to be getting his step back from his injury.
  • Help defense was TONS better as was the guard defense.
  • Jayson Tatum - other than having trouble moving the ball in a couple of throwins was in tune today with defense and playing within the offense
  • Grayson has had 2 good games in a row showing he is getting past the mental block he had after punishment.

It's nice to have a game where it's a decision who gets it. I went Tatum because of the rebounding. Grayson was a close second

This one is tough, and I'm still thinking about it. It's Jayson or Grayson...which I guess is fitting considering the abuse both of them have had to deal with this year. But there were a lot of contributions by any number of players. It really was a team coming together type of game.

I went with Tatum. He took the ball to the rim, posted up smaller defenders, rebounded and made free throws. That was an all around game.

What a win!

Tatum
He played team ball and seemed to settle into a role. He's got to cut down on the turnovers. Grayson was huge down the stretch and Jones was our most efficient player. Almost picked Jones, shot the ball 11 times and missed only one shot (a 3 pointer)

I went with Tatum as well. I have been hard on him but he didn't settle for threes, he took nice drives to the basket and just looked more comfortable out there. This team needs Tatum to be effective.

Tatum... he played great and unselfish today and I hope this is the start of something.... big props to Capel today too!! He exploited matchups and seemed to call the right plays every time ND went on a run.. had a great game plan, play through Allen and kennard and it worked

Tatum took a step at shutting his critics up. I think he was more natural tonight and made an effort to involve his teammates. If he plays like he did today the rest of the year, we will be a lot happier.

That said, Allen's three after ND cut it to one gives him the game ball IMO.

Normally I'd go Tatum as I think he probably had the best overall game, but I went with Grayson instead. He's had two nice games in a row and tonight he stepped up and was our leader when Luke went to the bench with his fourth foul. As much as Jayson has been dealing with some mental demons I think we can all agree the pressure on Grayson has been greater. Maybe this team is finally starting to get it. We'll see.

Gotta be Grayson. His leadership and clutchness won the game

I agree. Grayson was Grayson 2016 for the first time this season. He played with a completely different aura and confidence. Who knows....maybe these guys are starting to get it? I sure hope so.

Hard choice for this game but I went with Tatum. I'm am certainly happy that GA Luke and Jason all played really good when they were on the floor together. They start clicking together,,,,,watch out

This was Jason's night! I hope he keeps playing under control. He is pivotal for us to get where we want to be! I know some on this board think not, but he is the key!!!!!!

Also:

23-of-24 from the FT line

The only miss was when Amile went to the line for Tatum after he left with the injury.

Grayson for player of game. Tatum and Jones were great tonight but those 5 straight points knocked ND back down, and considering what he deals with on road makes it even bigger

Jayson.
Grayson hit the biggest shot of the game, his 3 to put us back up 4. But Jayson was best overall (that was a charge he had though.)

Grayson hit the shot that saved the game for us. Tatum was amazing too, just have to go with the guy that turned momentum back in our favor at a critical moment.

Awesome game from so many of our guys tonight. I've been hard on Tatum not playing team ball but all of our guys seemed to have each other's backs tonight. I actually didn't realize Matt had dropped 16 - holy cow. Tatum would get the game ball if it weren't for Allen being so clutch for us.

Tough choice as many have conceded. I went Tatum because he played the type of game we needed most from him, tonight and moving forward. Tough in there.

Good job kid!

Went with Grayson, but it was tough to not pick Tatum. Grayson hit that 3 when they cut it to 1, then the next possession he hit a mid range jumper which showed a lot of poise.

Matt played a great game tonight but Jayson and Grayson were equally impressive and we wouldn't have won without both of them. I couldn't make up my mind so I invented a new player who is a mix of both.
His name is Grajayson.

I thought Jason Taytum played great, just behind Greyson Allan's hustle. Mat Jonez played some fantastic defense. Luke Kenhard hit some sweet jumpers and seemed to play better defense. Hope we see Markeys Bolden back in there and soon. Ameel needs to get back his original game.

I hope you know what you've did here, Show. Being a member of the OFC, I'm sure these 'names' will stick in my head, and when I post about these guys...well...you know what's going to happen...and it is all your fault.

Gave it to Jayson. All in all he played very well despite a few silly plays but hey it's a step in the right direction and hopefully he continues to trend in that right direction. All in all VERY VERY proud of our team!

As much as I'm not a real big fan of Greenburg, he did say a few things that stood out to me tonight....and scary, I know, but I believe all of them.

-It was the most complete game Duke played all year. Not the most dominating, but complete.
-Our veterans must continue to lead by example as they have the past two games.
-Duke is 7-men deep going forward.
-This team is establishing a big three in Luke, Grayson and Jayson....tonight they accounted for 38 of our 54 shot attempts. That shouldn't change.

I did agree with him about the big three comment going forward. Establish roles. The three guys doing the scoring will be Luke, Grayson and Tatum and then everyone else plays off of those three.

Those were the two biggest shots of the game. Jayson was great, but because of those (and the crowd nonsense he takes), Allen gets my vote.

Tatum b/c he played smart. Rebounded, hustled, drove the lane & played with passion.
