SMH. 9 mins straight in the 2nd half with zero buckets!! And he apparently keeps green lighting Aberdeen to shoot ill advised shot after ill advised shot!!! Do we really need Aberdeen (Mr career backup) shooting every trip down court??? 3 airballs tonight alone from him!
good lord, Pope is in waaayyy over his head. Sucks but it is what it is.

Oh and can we please find a damn way in this stellar offense to get Noah a few open threes??? He’s about the only one we have that can hit em.

It got so stagnant late in the game we actually ran a couple plays for our freshman center. Never thought I'd see us trying to establish Malachi Moreno in crunch time. But here we are.

I was just about to start a new thread taking about what happened to our offensive philosophy??

it is designed to space the floor to create ball movement and open looks and it’s completely lost. We get no movement and very little cuts and because of that can’t get any GOOD open looks outside.

Teams that hit a lot of threes get most of them from lockout passes to spot up shooters and they create those opportunities from penetration or spacing.
How have we allowed teams to take us completely out of that???!!!

it’s not just that we don’t have enough good shooters or the guys we have are struggling. They are struggling because we rarely take 3s in rhythm of the offense or catch and shoot shots.

the offense is completely broken and I’m not sure if it’s because these guys just aren’t running it right cutting hard and spacing etc, or if other teams are just taking it away from us.

But you can tell Pope himself is as consider as any of us about its has no answers right now. Remember he said we were going to take 35 per game and the only way we do that is to force 30 of them.

Against Purdue, we had 4 to 5 guys in motion. Sharp cuts, ball moving, just waiting for one defensive mistake to pounce on.

Now we set a ghost screen, roll (jog) toward the basket, while the other three guys stand and watch. Just so easy to guard now.

Don’t forget the weave at the start of every set.

I’m saying he’s our best shooter by a good margin, maybe run a few specific plays to get him open so he can shoot.
He's too slow and unathletic to get himself open or even get open if stuff is run for him. He's pretty easy to defend in the half court. You just stay attached and don't have to worry about him beating you another way.

He's probably the best H-O-R-S-E player on the team, but that doesn't really help in games.

Honestly, this team doesn't really have ANY good shooters. I know everyone points to Chandler, but his numbers will probably backslide quite a bit once other teams identify him as the ONE shooter. I think he's an okay shooter that can drive and finish, which helps him get cleaner looks. But I certainly wouldn't classify him as a "shooter". It's kind of like what you see with Kam. He was good at Tulane against weaker competition. But now he's getting guarded by dudes that are big and can move, and that guy couldn't hit a bull in the butt with a bass fiddle.

He should have been in on our next to last possesion, even if as just a decoy. Pope messed that up.

I said the same thing. There's no movement or violent cuts as Dykes would say. Lethargic. Too much ball watching.
Also effort/hustle, I knew we were beat last night when UNC had two guys on the floor after a loose ball. We had one and it was Oweh.
