I hope so man. Wish I didn’t get so upset and could be positive right now. So far it’s not looking good or decent.
So why are we regressing? Usually if a coach is going to make it at a school, they improve year over year at one of these criteria: Do you think we’ll win more and lose fewer games than last year? Will he lead Kentucky to a higher conference standing than 6th? Will he make it further in the SEC and NCAA tournament than he did last year?

Without Mike Pratt and boosters bringing in Calipari over Mitch, we would have no Final Fours or titles since 1998. Even Indiana would have a Final Four after that.

I really like Pope, however he is not having any luck recruiting and has a team on his hands with a couple of cancers. Aberdeen is a two guard not a point guard. Jasper needs minutes at the point, let him play through his mistakes. Lowe will be spotty all year now with his issues let Jasper play through it and hopefully he makes something magical happen. Two players need spot minutes as they don't want to give the effort.
Just think. Mitch was ready to follow up BCG with Mike Brey.
Rumors Mitch is retiring next year but that replacement is Marc Hill who is Mitch jr so nothing would change.

I hope Pope kills it here. I hope I'm wrong in thinking he was not the right hire with limited experience and not the resume for this job. But he needs to start killing it quick. There is not any grace in this day and age. He gets this year and next year imo to get it going at a high level.
It's pretty much impossible to be a UK fan and not love Pope. But he was the wrong hire.
I think everyone on here hopes you are correct, but we have seen little evidence that is the case.

I don’t like what NIL is doing to college sports. I’m ok with players getting paid but the NCAA done a bad job with how they’ve handled it. I think they should have put a cap on NIL pay.
I believe Pope would be a perfect coach if it was 35 years ago. When it was actually college ball. I don’t think he’s made out for this cut throat scene that’s going on right now.
