Even if we had the boosters to cover $55M+ in buyouts, who would want to? Why give money to bail out Mitch's dumb--- just so he can do it again? And then be asked for $40M more in a few years because we have easily the most incompetent big-sport AD in America? It's so bad that corruption is starting to be the only explanation that makes sense

If Pope can’t turn it around and sees he’s not the man for the job. He will work with the University on a buyout. He loves this university and program. He’s not going to hold it hostage. I do think he would appreciate a full second season to see if he can turn it around after a pretty solid first year. I’m not sure why that’s so unreasonable.

If he doesn’t get it together soon he should be fired he’s no better than let’s say BCG . If he misses the tournament which projections aren’t looking good then he should be fired. This program can’t afford another year of subpar results. We have had subpar results the last 7 years ( last year was ok considering it was his first year). If we do make a change Mitch needs to stay the **** out of any hiring we do on the basketball side and that’s just being honest.

The only denominator is if Rupp stays packed. If fans keep showing up, Pope will keep his job.
When attendance affects the bottom line is when decisions are made.
As much as I hate it, this is how it has to be. i will go, but yall shouldn’t. I mean that too, I can’t help it I’ve got to raise kids in this. But everyone else should not show. I don’t mind being the only guy there, I hope that’s what happens

At this point I keep saying this over and over. Buying bandaids isn’t going to stop the cuts. You have to stop cutting your wrist. Barnhart is the razor blade. Get the razor blade away you don’t have to keep buying bandaids. This isn’t rocket science the man wouldn’t have survived at any program I’ve said this for years. He is one of the lowest paid AD’s in the conference for a reason. Only Kansas ever inquired about hiring him and they vetted and went in another direction. He’s horrible. Get him out. You can’t have an AD like Barnhart in charge of modern professional sports. These aren’t “letterman” as he likes to say, these are professional athletes in a system more corrupt than the NFL. He can’t do this.

Agreed. Basketball trending down, excitement around football. If there’s ever a time, this is it for football.
Maybe (we will see) But ONLY because the fanbase has raised hell about the direction of the program for several years now. Getting Barnhart to change course and fire his buddies is like pulling teeth. Everything is stubbornness, nepotism, and change avoidance with him.

Instead of talking about Pope leaving and a buyout, we should be talking about increasing our NIL budget.
We have one of the higher NIL budgets in college basketball. This is a coaching and coach's eye for talent issue.

A few of our higher paid guys are injured on the bench.
Have you ever watched basketball? Teams have injured players all the time. A bad game or some close losses with those injuries are understandable. Not this. This is worse than scores against Gonzaga against Bethune Cookman do you get it? Is this the best you can do or are you trolling?

What a disaster. Mitch Barnhart is a cancer to this program. Who gives a sh*t about volleyball or rifling.
Hard to believe our AD still has a job. His track record and contract management history is abysmal. He would have been fired long ago in the private sector.

It may be financially painful but he needs to be fired now along with our coach because letting this drag on will be more costly in the long run. People will stop coming to see this abomination and recruiting will get worse than it is now.

Anyone on here who has run or owned a business knows in this situation you have to act quickly and unfortunately ruthlessly to stop the bleeding. A sad day for BBN.

I know Pope is getting paid well but it still hurts seeing one of our guys fail so badly in the public eye.

Considering Mitch survived a sexual harassment scandal that would’ve sent most ADs packing, he could probably get away with a Penn State-level scandal. Dude is untouchable for some reason.

Yeah and unfortunately he has had a major part in destroying our program. We have so many weak a** men involved in our program right now.

Back to the original point, the athletic dept is a cesspool, it needs to be drained a started over. But, it’s so bad they don’t even realize it and once Barney steps down (with his $1.6mil parachute) one of his lackeys will step in.

If $22 million can be pissed down the drain on NIL with this bunch, I don't want to hear how they can't come up with the money to ditch underperforming coaches. Not going to buy that garbage at all.
