- Happy to be 1-0 in Big Ten.

- You can't run your offense. You have to make plays and drive the ball.

- Lot of the turnovers had to do with being really tired.

- A lineup of Ash, Brown, McIntosh, Lindsey and Pardon is not one we practiced much.

- Proud of Lindsey and Brown in overtime.

- Pardon's block: Lucas was hurting them. Guys were tired. Someone was going to have to keep him from getting to the basket on us. We got loose balls in there.

- Ash's start: It was more about rewarding him for what happened in the last seven minutes against Georgia Tech. He rewarded Ash and Falzon, didn't punish Lindsey or Skelly. It really boost your bench scoring when you bring Lindsey off the bench (laughs).

- This game was a must-win.

- After GT, there were a lot of questions about our toughness and commitment. It's never as good or bad as it seems, it's always in the middle. Learned hard lessons. People are coming after us. That knocked us back a little bit.

- Our defense the last two weeks has gotten a lot better. Reasons: Practice and work. Texas Tech game was a real eye-opener for our guys.

- Isiah missed a month in the preseason with a quad injury. It really set him back. He's fearless.

- Fouling: Putting hands on guys too much. Vic got a T and an offensive foul. He's got to be more careful because he's going to guard their best player.

On not starting: I knew I played a really bad game. That was motivation for us. The guys that ended last game really showed fight; that was just rewarding them.

Found shots in second half.

Changed offense to use more back-door cuts, etc., against Illinois' aggressive guards.

Vic Law

Going against Loren Black: He's just another player I had to rebound over.

Fouls: I think the ref did a good job. Stupid technical foul. Leron was saying things and pushing. It is what it is.

Going to OT: Just lost to GT on a layup. We were looking to get the last bucket.

Why was it a must win: Because Illinois kicked our *** two times last year. (Great answer.) We couldn't lose and then go to West Lafayette against Purdue.

Pardon's block: I wish he got the block on Tadric Jackson (against Georgia Tech), but I was glad he got it tonight.

Illinois fans: It motivated us. Illinois is an in-your-face team, very aggressive.

Early B1G games: Who would've thought I'd go from Purdue to Chicago State in the same week.(He's on a roll tonight.)

Our bench did a great job. Isiah' free throws, Gaines big rebound.

Vic has become a great interview. Very candid and open.
