Post Office takes a picture of your mail. Every piece of letter sized mail.

I was going to have my mail held for a week due to vacation and I stumbled upon something called "informed delivery" and I signed up for it. Now I get an email that shows a picture of every piece of mail that will be delivered to me that day. For free.

I had no idea the post office photographs every piece of letter sized mail but yet there it it.

When most every bill is automated and paperless, this option is great. I basically just throw out junk mail once a week unless I see something interesting in the daily email they send.

If they could create a "trash it" button to just dump it before delivery, that'd be awesome. My mail box is 90% junk mail. About 99% junk mail when you exclude **** I ordered online.

Mail is awesome when you're a kid and sucks when you're an adult. I used to wait around for issues of Ranger Rick, Sports Illustrated, and Eastbay. Last piece of mail that I didn't immediately trash was a bill from the IRS for a tax correction I made for 2020.

I guess sometimes I'll get a good pizza coupon or something, but it's usually trash or not something I want to deal with.

It’s a nice feature…no need to walk down a long driveway in the cold if it’s nothing but junk mail

For some reason when I was a kid I was obsessed with mail. And I was a kid but never got anything. Once there was a bad snow storm when I was in 5th grade and I called the post office just to make sure the mail was still going to come.

🥴
I used to feel that way when it was time for the next issue of Cat Paw.

Not a photo, done by a high speed scanner.

Uh, hope you know what changes have been made and attempted at the ol’ United States Postal Service. There’s a reason Amazon started using their own delivery drivers.

I use the Informed Delivery everyday. No big dewl about the daily mail stuff because I have Mail Slot at my home but Love the package tracking info so no packages sitting on my front porch.

Thanks for posting. Just signed up for it. We don't get much in the mail that isn't junk, but this will be nice to have to notify our neighbor who collects our mail when we are away for more than a week.

I use it. As others have said, I see if it’s something important. I live in the country and my mailbox is a good distance from my front door.

If the day’s haul is nothing but junk mail or bills I pay electronically, I let it sit until the next time I feel like walking down there.
