My Top 5 would be

1. Muhammad Ali
2. Sugar Ray Leonard
3. Thomas Hearns
4. Roberto Duran
5. Roy Jones

I had a hard time leaving Marvin Hagler off the list, but I could only pick 5.

You named Aaron Pryor, probably the most exciting boxer I've ever seen.

I actually met Pryor...I'm from Cincy as well.

Pryors pro fights were probably not a whole lot different from what he grew up doing in the streets of the West End in Cincinnati. In other words, never stop throwing and continue until somebody goes down and gives up.

The thing about Pryor is he was supposed to have some big fights that didn't happen for one reason or another. He was supposed to fight Sugar Ray Leonard, but didn't because he wanted more money. He was supposed to fight him a second time, but Sugar Ray got hurt the match before/ He never fought him. He was supposed to fight Roberto Duran, and didn't because of some bad advice he got. He never fought him. I was a little young when Pryor was boxing, but outside of Arguello, did he beat anyone of significance in their prime?

What do you mean you could only pick 5? You're the OP -- you can do WTF you please. In other words, just change your thread to the Top 6 and put MMH in the 6 spot. Swing that big ol' OP club with authority, bro.

Sure did seem that during Larry Holmes time he had a hard time finding good fights.... The guy was very skilled, and in the ring worked with great efficiency.... A true professional.... Really liked him and he went light on Ali when he could have messed him up bad.....
His name deserves mention.

How many remembers the boxer Salvador Sanchez, the featherweight champion during the early 1980. & how great would he have been if he hadn't got killed in an auto accident.

What was the most exciting / best / most memorable boxing match you ever saw ?

Mine would be the George Foreman vs. Ron Lyle fight. 2 heavyweight sluggers letting it fly.

1. Muhammad Ali
2. Sugar Ray Leonard
3. Roy Jones Jr.
4. Bernard Hopkins
5. Marvin Hagler

I left Floyd off because he never had to fight anyone of the level of those on this list. Lots of heavyweights have to be left off due to the pound for pound issue. A young Tyson really belongs on the list. He was a terror until the people around him played one too many mind games with him. If you younger guys haven't watched his fights or a young Roy Jones/Sugar Ray/Hopkins or Hagler, you should look it up on youtube.
