Thought I would share a cool video about Rob Mercer and his career. Glad to hear about him, such a beast. Hope we can raise #9 this year! Loved seeing the 1996 and 1997 teams on here.
Different opinions I suppose. I met him at that game too. Talked to him in the hallway. He couldn't have been more polite. Only time I ever met him. The NBA had the lock out is why he was there. We talked a little about that and a little about UK.Meh,, one of my least favorite players after meeting him in Nashville at a Vandy/UK game in 1999..
And maybe Kevin Knox? One of the last collegiate players to make a living on the mid-range jump shot.
The day he committed to UK I turned to a buddy at work and said championship.
I remember the Headline on the front page of the Lexington Hearld after he committed; Super man has arrived! The day he committed to UK I turned to a buddy at work and said championship.

Mercer was so good. Fuzz, maybe it’s a you thing?
But seriously one thing that really jumps out is how few mistakes they made. Very few dumb plays if any. Coach P held them to a high *** standard and damn was it effective.
I was 26 when he committed. It was a post college job till I got what I wanted.Damn Jed, I was in like 5th grade when he committed. Didn’t realize you were up there that much. Hope it was a summer job in between summer school. Surely wasn’t a damn career.
Maybe it was you?Meh,, one of my least favorite players after meeting him in Nashville at a Vandy/UK game in 1999..
Nope,, I asked him for an auto and he said he doesn't do freebies for anyone.. Guess he's gotta pay for the big *** gold basketball around his neck some way.. He could drop dead today and I'd smile & laugh..Maybe it was you?
Negative.. He's a straight up sun of a beech.. Explained why..Not sure what Fuzz is on but he was a neighbor of my cousins and has always been one of the nicest guys you’ll meet. Maybe fuzz was short a few addy’s that day. It’s called cognitive restructuring. You have to add and weigh the evidence that they’re actually doing what you think they’re doing. Many times over u the ******* after evidence weighed.
Incident - you interpret an ***hole
* what is the evidence he’s an ***hole?
____ cognitive restructure——
* I’m the ***hole.
Guess I was too white for him..Different opinions I suppose. I met him at that game too. Talked to him in the hallway. He couldn't have been more polite. Only time I ever met him. The NBA had the lock out is why he was there. We talked a little about that and a little about UK.
Guess I was too white for him..♂
I waited to almost halftime for a break in the game before I bothered to ask him to sign my hat,, I think it was.. Didn't want to bother him while the game was being played.. Pretty sure he was getting ready to leave and that's when I asked him.. Never did see him after that.. A buddy of mine knew a student trainer or someone like that and we got JP Blevins family tickets.. I could stand straight up and touch the roof was so high up,, behind the goals I think.. Family tix back then really sucked.. May still do..I've heard less than glowing things about Ron from that same era, and had a few experiences with other players that fell into the "don't meet your heroes" category. With that said, a lot of these guys mellow out when their playing days are behind them, and treat us peasants with a lot more respect when they've had some time to reflect. A buddy of mine said he ran into Ron at the SECT a few years back in Nashville and said he was a cool dude. I've also read that a lot of players peruse the message boards and see the good and bad things we all have to say.
I doubt you are whiter than me.Guess I was too white for him..♂
I doubt I am lol,, my great granny was half engine.. Only been sun burnt once in my 50 years.. Stayed a week at Talladega,, never knew sun could be that hot down there... My sun burnts got sun burnt..I doubt you are whiter than me.
But thinking that way could be the issue?
He was going to Vandy. Even committed to them.He was seriously considering going to UT, Pitino told him fine go there and score 30+ against us and we'll kick your *** by 40

He was going to Vandy. Even committed to them.
They refused to admit him.
Kevin Knox had one great college game that I remember. Mercer was Jordan compared to him lol.And maybe Kevin Knox?
No Mercer, no title in 1996....20 points in 24 minutesMeh,, one of my least favorite players after meeting him in Nashville at a Vandy/UK game in 1999..
Idk you never know what someone is doing at that moment. I’m sure he gets lot of attention that maybe he wants to chill in certain moments. Probably didn’t mean it personally.Meh,, one of my least favorite players after meeting him in Nashville at a Vandy/UK game in 1999..
I’m sure that is true, maybe in that time he felt like he should be paid for everything he did. Looking back maybe he feels differently now and that he should have had more respect for those who helped put him in that position.I've heard less than glowing things about Ron from that same era, and had a few experiences with other players that fell into the "don't meet your heroes" category. Change it back to Morg thenwhat about it. It’s Morg, they gave me a new name and an inmate number when it switched. Changed it to Morgousky then it switched it to this, a name I’ve never heard of.
I’ve been called worse things than Kentucky.
All because he wouldn’t give you an autograph over 25 years ago? Yikes...Nope,, I asked him for an auto and he said he doesn't do freebies for anyone.. Guess he's gotta pay for the big *** gold basketball around his neck some way.. He could drop dead today and I'd smile & laugh..
Wasnt that he didn't sign whatever it was I asked,, was the laugh and look he gave me after I asked.. If someone gives me 1 reason not to like them,, then that's it for them..Idk you never know what someone is doing at that moment. I’m sure he gets lot of attention that maybe he wants to chill in certain moments. Probably didn’t mean it personally.
Change it back to Morg then
It’s under settings, click on the 3 lines top left of the page, click on your name, go under the profile tab. It’s there.I could try. Gotta remember how I did it the first time.
Kevin Knox had a great freshman season.Kevin Knox had one great college game that I remember. Mercer was Jordan compared to him lol.
Kevin Knox had a great freshman season.
Never understood why someones signature would mean anything to someone. I would never ask anyone to ”sign something “ for me . Just seems bizarre.Nope,, I asked him for an auto and he said he doesn't do freebies for anyone.. Guess he's gotta pay for the big *** gold basketball around his neck some way.. He could drop dead today and I'd smile & laugh..
I would never argue that he was better than AD or Randle. He was average compared to other OAD under Calipari. Never once thought of him as great. He had really good moments. AD and Randle were great.
Randle to this day is the most under appreciated player in UK history as far as I’m concerned, but I digress.
