I am still adjusting to these student athletes now being professional athletes (at least officially) in college.

Whoever is leading, managing the structure and design of the portal, NIL, contracts, etc better get their “shot” together and real quick. Lord knows the NCAA doesn’t have the competency nor vested interest in doing so. The courts, curb stomped them on NIL.

When are we going to see in season trades, cutting of players and a salary cap?

These kids want the professional money, then assume the responsibility that goes with it. Can’t have both sides of the table.

If UK is going to be marketed by the press as the “poster child” of what is wrong with the current system (you see the story evolving now) then Pope should cut some of these overpaid professional athletes on his roster. He may not have anything to lose at this point.

Lifelong fan is losing interest in this crap.

Go CATS!

This is sour grapes stuff. If we were winning you wouldn't care about how much the players made. And this happened last year with KSU and Indiana. Both teams paid a ton of money and "won the portal". Look at how they did. None of this a sure thing....

When UK spends another 22M on a roster next year on a whole new team you will be right back to being a fan. Don't kid yourself. Its why college basketball is popular again. This system has driven interest to heights unseen.

You always had your boogeyman to blame. 10 years ago it was paying players with backroom deals. Now you can chase whatever NIL conspiracy theory you desire. Instead of berating Kion Brooks for what he said about Rupp, now you can blame whatever salary these guys get.

No matter the system, no matter the roster, no matter the coach.....9 times out of 10 you will be unhappy.

Hahahaha, seek help dude. Your assumptions and wild accusations are wrong. Questions and observations stand.

NIL isn't what it was intended and the whole bs about not being legal to pay based on performance is just that...BS. Nobody wants an autograph of a sucky player that nobody knows but they'll pay more for the great players' autograph. Is that not performance based pay. How about these new NIL tourneys that pay big NIL money to the winner. How is that not performance based pay? But hey, if it's legal, those tourneys might be the model for the NCAA Tourney in the future.

Where are you seeing college basketball is back to being popular? I still see it as a declining product from its height in the 80 and 90s

I am not sure direction it goes. It depends your measurement of success, and I don’t have the financials and operating measurements to draw conclusion. I do know there are gaps in the present operating model that need resolution by someone. Who is not clear…..Pitino recently said college basketball is at its height because influx of European Players. Saban tends to take varying positions dependent upon audience.

Football is thriving.....I tend to lean this NIL Portal will see fans decline but time will tell

Basketball.....I see still as not in demand as it's popularity has been way off for years

I’d love to see a few players cut who are causing the issues.

While my interest has waned in recent years the culprit is the damn portal that results in lack of any continuity. Those that want a salary cap should realize that won’t eliminate NIL. the pros have a salary cap but that doesn’t keep Labron from signing deals with Nike or any other company which wants to use him for their profitable gain (REAL NIL). Cooperatives make it pay for play and those with the deep pockets of wealthy donors will succeed

BYU is a perfect example of what you are saying, money has made them arguably the best team in there history. They have a very good team, thanks to NIL. I'm sure they are not complaining about it. They have had some good players over the years, but now have one of the best players in the country, I doubt he would have been playing for them, if not for all the money they were able to pay him, with a billionaire doner.
