Maybe it’s just me, but it sure seems like Columbia University used the Penn State “how to react to a crisis” playbook while Harvard is using the UNC version.

These private colleges should simply tell the Feds, thanks but no thanks. They have such big endowments they really don't need public funds. And they can go about their business and hire who they wish.

Harvard only has $50B. The Gubbmint is loaded to the tune of -$37T.
