"When we win, they'll have to build a new arena. We'll blow the roof off".

Vic, you were spot on!

That reminds me of all the haters back in the day that were like, "Vic Law...big deal! He'll never maintain that level of recruiting."

Vic was CCC's first recruit, and he was a BIG one!

When it is all said and done, we will all owe Vic Law a great deal of thanks. Giving all the credit too CCC is a mistake. The credit should be shared by a few and Law is one of the top. I bet CCC will agree.

So true. Vic epitomized "Belief Without Evidence" that Gary Barnett touted.

Excuse me for repeating myself. If Law had never played one minute of basketball, he still would have been one of the more valuable recruits in not-so-recent NU history. He took the leap and he had the confidence to sell the program to recruits and beyond.

I don't think anyone in their right mind (certainly no one here) is giving all credit to CCC. He certainly deserves partial credit, as does Law for buying into CCC's vision before there was any evidence to back it up. Since then, Law has been the perfect representative of our school...everything we'd hoped for.

If Carmody and staff were reviled for lackluster recruiting, then CCC and staff deserve praise for what they have accomplished with their 5 recruiting classes. Players deserve most of the credit for the performance on the floor, but talent wins at this level and CCC has brought a different level of talent than I have seen watching NU hoops for 43 years.......

I'm probably talking about my self as much as anything. I'm not a huge BB expert but I continually find myself feeling like CCC is succeeding in every facet of the coaching game that I can think of. This is unfair to all the players especially Vic and BMac. Who have certainly been working their tails off.
I think it is going to be very interesting to see Law in his fifth year with a very different cast of characters on the court with him. I bet he will play a different role and excel once again in new ways.

About the only thing that would make CCC a better human being would be him wearing Metallica concert t-shirts.

He has been pretty big on helping to recruit others

That would be gracious of CCC but arguably invalid. If Law wasn't going to be the first one, then someone else would have been. CCC was going to succeed no matter what. Maybe, it would have taken a bit longer - the following year perhaps, but someone would have been his first big get. Don't get me wrong, I do credit and thank Law for committing. But, I have no doubts that CCC would have succeeded regardless, and that the program's rise wasn't contingent upon Law's commitment.

I agree with this. Law just happened to accelerate the process, with help from guys like Drew Crawford, who believed and stuck with Collins.
