Are DJU/Van Dyke in the portal? DJU is a really good athlete but terribly inaccurate. Van Dyke is a good player but has had injury problems. Maybe that's a red flag on both. Card would likely be my choice but see below.....

My totally uneducated guess, and only a guess, is UK's next QB isn't in the portal at this time.

Hudson Card is my top choice.
I would consider DJU a fail.
McNamara would be my second choice. Brett Gabbard throws a great deep ball and showed a lot of poise and ability against us this season. Like him over a lot of other options.
Oops...Gabbert not Gabbard

Is Hudson card any good? The couple of times he played at Texas he didn’t look overly impressive, McNamara should be choice one, unless the new OC has a guy in mind

Neither is in the portal yet, but all signs point to them heading that way

Lol if hogan is the starting qb might as well just skip the season

BS

No one here knows Jack sht about Hogan's development or abilities. Wtf is wrong with people that they think the staff can't evaluate a player? After 10 years...

If this staff names Hogan the starter at QB regardless of who we pick up in the portal, it will be because he's best able to lead the offense. I think there are a few people that didn't play much or at all this year because of the style of play we were learning/implementing and not having the reps with the 1s and 2s. This is what bowl practice is all about. We'll know more about the backups after these next few weeks of practice

For those who do not know DJU was rated as the top offensive player in the country coming out of high school. So clearly the tools are there even if the decision making at the college level is not. I personally would be elated with anyone on that list as all have played and started in big games for really big time football programs with high expectations. All were beaten out of starting jobs by very highly rated younger competition and in McNamara's case it was because of an injury

Good question ,I was thinking about the Wade kid. Sheron didn't look that bad in the SC game everyone else seemed to just go thru the motions
I was at the SC game and in pre-game warmups I thought Wade threw the best deep balls of all 3 backups. Of course throwing to a wide open receiver in warmups and doing it against SEC defenses is 2 totally different things.

I live in SC and you won't find many DJU fans amongst the Clempson fan base.

If Coen comes back Van Dyke prob is the leader. Until he battled injuries starting in the 1st QTR of the Duke game he was averaging close to 300 passing yards per game. Big guy as well 6'4 225

I like the Van Dyke as the one to be the next and Wade to be the future.

This. Plus he's already shown an ability to succeed in a high volume passing attack. So he must be at least decent at making quick decisions; which was an area Levis really struggled.

I think we could really be attractive because we could offer him the chance to display his ability in a pro offense.

If we get the Clemson guy, might as well just run an option oriented attack or better yet just stick with destin Wade and do the same

Does Sheron not get a shot? He didn't look horrible in his start. The staff screwed him in the USCjr game. They should've let him sling it some.

Sheron threw it 27 times against uscjr

Levis threw it more than 27 times only 3 games out of 11 started

Sheron & Wade have shots at being starting QB in 2023. But they will have to beat not only the other, but a transfer likely who is older & who has starting experience.

I've watched DJU for 2 seasons, he is impossibility slow. In running & wind up throwing motion. And this was against ACC defenses. SEC defenses would eat him alive.
^Agree 100%. DJU has had so many chances to really shine at Clemson with, almost every game, a significant talent advantage and has really been inconsistent and, at times, dreadful (see: 99 yards against USCjr just recently). Has all the physical tools on paper but has not been able to sustain a high level of play. He has tended to rack up incredible stats against a few opponents and then be a liability in other games. A true FR (maybe RS FR) started over him a couple of games because he just wasn't getting it done. I would rather trust my luck with Sheron or Wade than rely on him. Think he'll win a couple of games by being awesome and loss a couple by being downright terrible.

The kid from TX was doing pretty well until he got beat out. Some of the others named I'm not really that familiar with.
