I think that's the name of the neighborhood.

Edit 1 Wikipedia says it is named after a golf club in Maryland that Henry Clay was a member of while he was in the Senate. He then named this neighborhood Chevy Chase. Maybe Chevy Chase the actor chose his name the same way as that is not his real name.

Edit 2 after googling Chevy Chase his name is Cornelious Crane Chase and his grandmother nick amed him Chevy after the same neighborhood in Maryland, how about that.

Edit 3 the town in Maryland is was named after a French word for a border raid chevauchée and a chase which meant a hunting ground. At some point us unsophisticated Americans shortened chevauchée down to Chevy. So there you have it. The origin of the name.

When his secretary Freida was looking for a home office she set up shop there. The rest is history.

All of this is false. Listen to the rest of us.

Also, Montclair is NOT Chevy Chase.
