Penn State will win 28-24. Trust me. I know stuff.

Remember 1964? Unranked Penn State shut out #2 Ohio State, in Columbus, 27–0 on November 7, 1964. I predicted that one. I was still in high school.

I was at that game. My first ever CFB and made me a PSU fan. My father took me to the game as he was OSU faculty at the time and had faculty Tickets. Of course I didn’t understand a lot about football at the time at age 6, but it was a memorable experience.

Very cool, memorable moment! That would have been only 4 years after they moved Beaver Field to the present location, with a seating capacity of about 30,000. Do you have a recollection of what the stadium looked like at the time?

Penn State is still a very talented team. Ho much of a shot does it have against OSU?
If OSU didn't have the bye week I would give PSU a little better of a shot. To me the only hope is OSU is asleep after the bye week and caught looking ahead. I don't think OSU blows them out I think its more of a 28-14 type game.

I was thinking more of 51-10 type.

Day probably wants to put up 70 against Knowles so I think OSU will be focused and motivated. It’s not like they will be looking ahead to Purdue so I think it will be ugly.

Unfortunately, we probably spent the bye week learning new gadget plays. Hope the defense is ready to be on the field for 40 minutes.

Agree. NW scored 22 on us on our home field, and we are somehow holding the Buckeyes to 28 at the Shoe?

Only hope that it's not a total blowout is if they pull the starters early to avoid injury.

The game was at the Shoe, not in Happy Valley.

Penn State gets to play #1 and #2 back to back. This should be fun. Or not.

I'd say about as good a chance as you doing a simple proofread of your original post
Football is a sport played on motivation and emotions as much or more than any other. PSU has talent and little to lose. OSU has talent and little to gian. That is how upsets occur. Penn State has a shot although it is less than 50-50. See if you can find the typo, I left you one. Typo searches seem to float your boat.

How about this longshot scenario. PSU plays #1 OSU and wins. The next poll has Indiana ranked #1 then PSU beats them as well. Back-to-back wins against #1 ranked teams. I'd bet that has never happened before. I'd also NOT bet it's going to happen now.

My take as an OSU fan.

I won't predict the score but I don't anticipate a high-scoring game. Given the QB situation at PSU and the lack of a serious passing threat, it is unlikely that PSU's offense finds a lot of success against our D. That's not homerism speaking. I just think that's the reality of the situation. PSU will probably find some success with the run game but it won't be near enough. Of course, any team can beat any other team on any given day. But I do not expect PSU to do enough against our D to win.

The big question mark is how Knowles D will play. First off, I would preface this by mentioning that a lot of PSU fans thought folks in Columbus were just spewing sour grapes when they cautioned PSU fans that it takes a couple of seasons for Knowles complex schemes to reach peak form. Fans do respect what he built here. But it takes time and PSU is finding that out. His schemes are not easy for players to pick up and retain and there will be a lot of miscues as they slowly acclimate to his way of doing things.

With that being said, I am not sure how to read the situation on defense. Knowles might just throw out the book and go for broke. I do expect the D to put up a fight. There is a lot riding on this game for Knowles personally. Having his D getting walked on at The Shoe would be humiliating. I do think they show up ready to play. The problem is, the PSU offense and QB situation is so questionable at this point that even if the D plays lights-out, it probably won't be enough.

What lottery numbers should I play this week?
Upsets do happen. Is it likely? No.

But if the upset is pulled off , I would not anticipate a score of 28-24. I can't see PSU putting up 28 on the Buckeyes D. The Buckeyes Defense has only given up 41 points the entire season through seven games. To put even more context to it, about half of those points came in garbage time play when the D was playing their second and third strings later in the game. The starting D has given up roughly 20 points this season.

If there is an upset, I anticipate it is a scenario where Knowles D stagnates our offense and creates a lot of turnovers.

Penn State's is a personnel problem, not a learn the playbook problem.

Could have Knowles here for a decade, if they line up with the DTs and Linebackers they have lined up with, it will stink for a decade.

I would be surprised if our offense puts up more than 10 points...7 of those in garbage time.

I would be surprised if our defense could hold them under 50. Maybe with a fumble or an INT here and there they fail to score 50. Maybe.

52-13

Like it or not, we are every team's homecoming opponent for the next 2/3 years.

You are not fooling anyone with this babe in the woods routine... yes, your team will likely completely dismantle a highly suspect/disorganized Penn State team that is falling apart before our eyes. Maybe we recover in the next few years, maybe not... time will tell.

I all but assume he is gone.

There were a lot of rumors last season that he was heading to Oklahoma. Everyone thought it was a given. His girlfriend is there, and he has past roots in the area. I think its quite possible he ends up at Oklahoma State.

I was as shocked as everyone else here that he left for Penn State. It was basically a lateral move for a little bit more money. There was a collective WTF over here and it wasn't all sour grapes. It was like, what are you trying to do ? It didn't make a whole lot of sense why someone would just switch things up like that. Hindsight is 20/20. But he actually would have made more had he stayed put. Incentive bonus awards, post-season monetary awards for playoff appearances. Not to mention the bonus check you get if you win another Natty. That's not chump change. These will far outweigh the raise he received by jumping ship.

The moral of the Knowles story is that the grass sometimes looks greener elsewhere. But it often is the exact opposite.

Oh I think he would want to stay, I just don't know that the next guy will want him to stay.

Would love to see him here with a few DTs that actually fit what he wants to do. He's a really good coach.

Depends on if the new coach wants to start fresh.

Knowles is a great strategist. He loves the game. He did build an elite defense during his time at OSU. He has a reclusive personality and despite him being here for four seasons, he was someone nobody ever got to know.

The only negative I could say about him is he is not much of a people-person. He is very cerebral and it's like he is always thinking. Never shows emotions of any kind. In his pressers, he always talks very slowly and methodical like he is pondering every word he wants to say. And he never shows emotions of any kind. After the Natty win as he was leaving the stadium, the local press walked up to him and asked him how he feels now that he was won a ring. He just paused and raised an eyebrow like Mr Spock. After contemplating for a couple of seconds, he said, "I think it was a great game." Then he just walked away. Brilliant mind. Strange fellow.
