Legendary St. John's coach Carnesecca dies at 99
Hall of Fame college basketball coach Lou Carnesecca, who won more than 500 games at St. John's, has died at the age of 99.
Yup. Sad to hear!!! Coach Lou and St Johns was a big big part of the Big East in their hay day. Great fun to watch, he was a character. "The sweater"Wow this one really hits home. I was a big Georgetown fan back in the day and I loved watching the developing rivalry between Lou, John Thompson, Chris Mullin and Patrick Ewing. Sad to hear.
I had Georgetown season tickets the sweater year. Although it didn’t end the way I wanted it was the best year of basketball ever, for me. Great teams, great drama.Helluva run to make it to 99. Thanks for the memories Louie.
I was a big Georgetown fan, too. Except where I lived there was no cable, so I listened to the games on the radio.Wow this one really hits home. Loved Louie, wish he and Mully could have gotten a title back in the day. Those Big East battles of the 80's as good as it gets,
