I’m a picky eater, but my stance on cheese on chicken is legendary.

Mexican

Chinese if you can find a good one, but 99% aren’t worth it

A couple Euro trips have almost ruined American Italian and Middle Eastern/Mediterranean for me.

Trips to Italy have ruined Italian food for me here in America. I havent had pizza since last Dec in Italy... cant eat that crap here.

$20 in a non touristy area will get you: a bowl of the best pasta ever, a glass of excellent red house wine (no need to upgrade), and a tiramisu. No tipping required.

French food is awesome also (I love snails!). Their ability to make simple dishes into awesomeness with sauces is unparcelled.

One major disappointment: while in Germany last summer, I found out that "Black Forest Cake" doesnt actually exist. I tried to find it in Baden-Baden (which is actually in the Black Forest area) and all of the folks I asked basically said its an American creation. Bummer... cause its awesome lol.

In the Cincy area most of the Italian food is crap (Pompilio's in Newport is a joke)... Scotti's and VV Italian (run by a woman from Puglia) are pretty legit, however.

Mediterranean is kind of unfair.. because you can include Greek food but also Moroccan food as well, both of which are fan-*******-tastic.

How do you elevate pizza to that level?
Some are definitely better than others but it's hard to f**k up pizza unless you burn it.
I've had plenty gourmet wood fired pizza in the states and to me it's just different not really better.

Ethiopian ? We tried that once at a fancy hot spot in Washington DC .. Like intimate setting , hard to get in , might see the big power brokers there etc etc .. food was barely edible !!! Awful. Thats my only experience , reason those dudes are all skinny .

I love all food so much it's hard to answer .. ??
Chinese ( forget 99% of places , never ever go to a buffet)
Thai
Mexican

Also dont dig Indian food at all. And Japanese ? love sushi but all I think about is those terrible hibachi places selling chunks of unseasoned chicken on a flat top and people salivating over it .

Its the tomatoes. That volcanic ash soil in Italy makes them so much better: you can eat them like an apple.

Also, their food supply doesn't have the preservatives and other crap that we have here.

I eat tomatoes out of my garden like apples. Have been for years. Maybe it’s the ash from my wood stove I add to my compost pile

Pompilio's is a joke? Only been a couple of times, but I really liked my food both times.

I feel like I could eat Cajun for like 2 meals and then not need to eat it again for a while. But, maybe I haven't had the full experience.

Chinese, at least americanized Chinese ,is trash. That's "I don't want to cook and it's pouring outside" takeout goop. Be an adult and just eat Thai food.

Japanese, Thai, Mexican, Italian, French, German for the main ones. For lesser ones, Korean, Vietnamese, Indian, Moroccan, Turkish, Hungarian.

Maybe they didn't serve you the premium UN food aid, Dan.

Hmm, that's too bad about your experience. I live in the DC area and remember first trying it when I was on a college visit here.

Any idea what you ordered? Also, do you recall the name of the place? There aren't too many "fancy" ones in DC. Was it Ethiopic, perchance?
