One of two from his school.
I'm glad he continues to get honor considerations. Anyone know his stats thus far this year?

Back here in the burbs, there is a nasty rumor going around that Collins was ready to pull his scholarship if he didn't play against better competition. I don't buy the story, but the internet rumors from haters are claiming that we now have a burnt bridge at Barrington High School.

Here are a couple of funny remarks:

"I played at Barrington. The current coach there is a dipshit, so in reality, I'd say it was smart for Rapolas too."

"I hope it is true and it burns them. I loath Coach Rat face and everything about his phony persona. The guy is foul mouthed and teaches dirty basketball (flopping is dirty) but is portrayed as this holier than thou purveyor of all things good and kind."

Well, if that is where this whole rumor started, i.e., illini nation, then it is prolly just sour grapes. I mean, Collins beats Illinois on every recruit it seems. Sorta like how Harbaugh used to do Fitz when he was at Stanford [Not counting McCaffrey who the entire BIG tough guys offered and all smart schools, except McCall passed on him and didn't bother].

Who was our last McDonald's all american?

FWIW, a big difference between McD All-American and McD All-American nominee. There are a lot of McD All-American nominees (hence there being two from Rap's school and more than 15 overall from Illinois) and I believe we've had several of them over the years (for example Vic Law was one last year.)

A rumor from Illini nation is cited on this board? Yes, Collins would like to turn away a 4-star 6'8" forward who has great skills and would have been in contention for Illinois Player of the Year. No way. Does not come close to passing the credibility test.

Also, there only approximately 24 real McDonald's All-Americans who play in the game and a lot more nominees. Half of them go UK, Duke, Kansas and UNC and that leaves the rest of the country fighting for other 12. Just kidding, sort of. And no, I don't believe that NU has every had a McDonald's All American who played in the game. Collins recruited Henry Ellensom hard last year and made it to his final 8 list. That is as close to a McDonald's All American as we have been.

So this McCall/McCaffrey thing is the new meme we're going with?

This message board isn't even a legitimate Illini board. If you want real Illini info you go to Illinois Loyalty or go to their paid rivals site. Turk you're ridiculous with this one.

I'm pretty sure Walker Lambiotte was a McD AA. (Sorry Medill, didn't see your post, and yes he was a transfer from NCSt and the JimmyV era).

I know one of the parents of a Barrington player - he would tell me. He said this was a good move. Never mentioned any pressure.

Lou's previous article on Rap fully explained the transfer and how it came about. The comments on the Illini fan website are regarding Rap "forced" to transfer to Brewster Academy is simply bs & sour grapes. Rap is playing against better competition surrounded by top players on his team plus he is probably getting better academics at Brewster as well. Kind of a no-brainer to transfer to Brewster.

If you think you feel embarassed, think about how Turk must feel spending weeks trying to dig for more "dirt" on our programs... ;)
ill have what you are smoking. cripes, if you guys are so fragile when info about what our opponents are saying about us then i guess that explains why the asshats on this board were dogging demps and calling on collins to bench him
This board needs to stop harassing our players and start acknowledging that we have a fairly good team, and stop the demps hate. Im not a bb expert but even i know demps is our bead and butter, and the rap rumor was humorous. Get used to people talking crap about us because we are winning. Get Real!

If you had stopped there, you would have stopped embarrassing yourself because that's the only part where you don't sound like a raging asshat.
I'm not going to tolerate you and others standing down as the board blabs away about how Demps is no good. Sorry.
