Have to understand there will be a few folks around here that will fight for PF till they die regardless of results. They don’t really care about winning, they care about graduation rates and the program doing it the right way and staying out of trouble.
The rest of us our fans. And it’s this group to monitor for the calls to dismiss. Right now the rumblings have begun, folks are beginning to decide where their line is. Personally, I want to see coaches replaced. If not and if they are bad next season, I will join the active chorus that will be gaining steam to send PF into retirement.

This is undoubtedly true. But the key phrase here is "at most places." NU prides itself on being, well, not those places. Fitz is really trying to create a new business model, which requires adaptation. And that is where he fails. He seems to think he canplay the 90s game now, and he can't.
Well, this is, obviously stupid. Fitz has elevated the team and has had some bad years, but that happens. This is a program that does care about the not football things, so go eat a D if you don't care about that. It is one of the joys of my Northwestern fandom that we don't compromise and if you don't get that, you don't get NU football.
They also have not been winning games. If that called compromising maybe a move like U. of C. did could be the solution.
It isn't even the 90's game, more like the 70's- early 80's. The guy needs to get real. His offensive line is woefully inadequate for a ball control offense. He needs Walker's playbook for more up tempo plays to give the line help til we get competent big beef up front. We are 30 lbs lighter than opposing lines. Trying to ram the ball akin to three yards and a cloud of dust with these guys is a grand waste of plays.

More like the Patterson Principle. Most successful coach in program history, by a wide margin, thinks he's untouchable. Loses his mojo and cant adapt.
And there’s that line that he mentioned. I get where you’re coming from but totally disagree. I could care less about our team GPA. All I want is entertaining games and wins.
Fitz will get a long leash to make changes given the success that we've had over the past 15 years. That's just reality.
But everyone else in the program is expendable immediately from the coordinators to assistants.
This has to get turned around in the next year or two.
We can't look like a Dark Ages team for an extended period without serious damage to the program.
Especially true when we're rebuilding the stadium.
Fitz will get the benefit of the doubt from the powers that be unless he proves incapable of turning this around.
It sucks to have to admit but this is a lost year.
We can't turn this into a habit and Fitz knows that.

Well, gcg has said that would never happen. PF won’t take orders about staffing from the admin. And 100s of millions invested…. Maybe even an angry Pat Ryan at some point.
Next year could become very interesting. I suspect PF would quit before NU would fire him. Six v half dozen?
Well... I can vote with my dollars and I don't have to pay for season tickets. I felt this way in '19 and frankly 2020s season cancellation (for non-family game tickets) sealed the deal. I bought this year and don't see anything that inspires me to buy in 2022. I will just watch games on TV and save my Saturdays for other things.
I bet my season ticket money spent at North Central College will be received like a king as they average 70pts a game are a DIII powerhouse. Frankly, getting to and watching games in Naperville will be an upgrade.

Seriously, this may be the answer. Worked for OSU with Schiano. He might do it for 5-6 years. Also he already has a lot of purple gear.
