I remember when Jabari Parker was named by Sports Illustrated as the best since Lebron. I guess no one noticed the defensive end of the court.

From this article:

Should the NBA eliminate its one-and-done rule, allowing high school players to once again go straight into the draft, Bates likely would be the No. 1 pick in the 2022 draft. One person told ESPN that Bates could’ve even gone No. 1 this year ahead of the electric Zion Williamson.

“If he put his name in this past draft, he probably would have gone 1,” a grassroots veteran said. “In all future drafts, if he was in them, he’d go 1. He’s a loaded lottery ticket.”

Hahahahahahahahahahaha...I don't feel like typing anymore of them! The kid might turn out to be the most incredible player of all time, but he's only 15 right now, and some kids peak early and don't improve much later on. I think we had a golf club down the road
that had that problem.

Oh, and no way he would go #1 over Zion...NO WAY!

Bari played D in high school.

I think some kids misinterpret coaches when they say we want you to be the focal point on offense. That automatically tell them in their minds they don’t need to worry about defense

You may be right. Somebody or something convinced Jabari that half of the game you play isn’t important at all. Weird that he would express that sentiment.

The thing about Emoni Bates that makes him different than the typical "next NBA superstar" is that he isn't dominating his competition by just being bigger/stronger/more athletic than everyone. He is beating them with pure skill.
I believe I read on Twitter that in one of his EYBL games this summer he went 8/9 from three and had 38 points with only 1 dunk. He also has incredible ball-handling for his size.

I really hope he's able to go straight to the NBA from HS, because all of the "way too early" analysis for him, is that his college choice would come down to a 2 horse race between MSU and UK.

Remember when Seventh Woods was the next Chris Paul?

He was gonna be a great one . One of the best to ever play the game. One of the top 50 NBA players of all time.
