I used to eagerly await recruiting news. Today? Not so much, and not because of recent events.

With the college game now a professional enterprise recruiting success is nice, but it is not going to be determinative of success.

Need a player at a position? Get your wallet out and pick from the dozens available for transfer.

Hire a new coach? Let him bring along his players he can trust to perform.

It’s a question of two things - 1. Commitment and 2. Money . Doubt that? Look at Indiana and Texas Tech.

This impacts coaching hires. It makes sense to hire coaches who have professional experience. Juggling budgets and rosters is going to grow in importance. Head coaches are no longer omnipotent rulers, they are 50 percent coach and 50 percent general manager.

So you fans of minor league football have just got to relax and let things play out.

It does stink that the current recruiting has taken a hit, but that was going to happen regardless of when BGJ was fired.

Whoever gets hired, will have a lot of work to do to keep players and find their own. If it’s Terry, he will have a lot of backing and NIL to get it done.. If it’s someone else, they will have that as well, plus players and recruits from their previous place of employment.

Did Kraft screw this up? Maybe, probably, not sure..

Looking forward to the new hire and the new direction of the program. The sun will rise tomorrow

I think you need to get checked out because that post was way too rational for this board.

Then we agree to disagree. Interesting that the front page of this site’s coverage of signing day said high school signing day is still the key to national championships. You don’t essentially throw away an entire recruiting class especially when you have numerous seniors on the team and players who will portal OUT if Kraft doesn’t hire a coach soon.

Then we agree to disagree. Interesting that the front page of this site’s coverage of yesterday’s signing day said it was still the key to winning national championships. I think it’s foolish to essentially throw away an entire recruiting class and assume you can make up for that with portal transfers (assuming of course that Kraft hires a coach before January 2nd) especially when the team has a number of seniors who have no more eligibility and other members of the team will be portaling OUT the longer it takes Kraft to finally hire a coach.

Can a new coach bring his recruiting class with him based on NCAA rules?
If they didn’t sign with his previous school, then they can sign with the new coach in February. If they already signed with the previous school they have to enter the portal.

The front page to this site says that? This site, which sells subscriptions to people to more closely track high school recruiting? Must be true!

Maybe so but if you think passing on an almost entire high school class and relying on the portal to win those Big and National Championships Krafty said the fans deserve, I have a bargain price on a bridge in the middle of the desert I would like to sell to you.
