What does any college in Ky have to do with the situation? If you he wanted to make a difference then cut off tax money to the gov for a change in the raids. Not go after colleges throughout the state. This is outrageous

This is outrageous for political figures to hurt institutes of learning for a political agenda.

I don’t like it, as a UK fan, but economic leverage is used all the time. Ask Iran and China, not to mention all the boycotts of businesses for supporting or refusing to support a cause. I suspect this call to action will not have any affect on us because the athletes know that UK has nothing to do with this civil rights oppression, but UL by virtue of being in Louisville is another matter.

Ridiculous comment. I’m not sure what exactly he thinks this would accomplish. Maybe he doesn’t care and is just trying to stay relevant.

Poor take by JJ. I will however, be curious to see how Stoops and particularly Cal respond to this. I’m not sure 2 coaches have been better in supporting their players during all of this and teaching how to be both civically and socially responsible.

Webster's says relevant is having significant and demonstrable bearing on the matter at hand. He will have no bearing on top recruits coming to UK. Do you think 17 year old kids are going to listen to a guy they don't even know over the fast track to being a millionaire.

There have been like 4 threads on here about this. If he wasn’t relevant this wouldn’t have gotten that many threads.

Truth and facts don’t matter. Like it or not, we are squarely in the cross fire of a national political battle. Ol’ little neutral Kentucky somehow becomes battleground for rest of country. History repeats itself.

And these people don’t care about us. I’d argue Jackson doesn’t even really care about black people of Kentucky as “economic warfare” would impact all Kentuckians, regardless of race.

How many poor black kids moved from poverty to the middle class with help from UK (and even UL)? UK did’t just educate them but also provided scholarships, tutoring and mentoring programs, meals, dorm rooms, internships, and a ton of other programs. I hope the minority alumni do not stay silent and let Jesse know that Kentucky is not Chicago and that Operation Shove is not welcome here

Classic Jesse Hijackson. Read his book The Art of a Shakedown

I have read it, he is a joke, seems like I remember that MLK was trying to ease him out of the movement at the time he was assassinated because he saw JJ as a self promoter.

In any event, where are black kids supposed to go? To Georgia, where the jogger was tracked down and shot in Brunswick? To Minnesota, where George Floyd was killed, or Wisconsin, where the man was shot in the back 7 times? Or how about Florida (Trayyvon Martin)?

Point being if you want change, where you play college football has zero impact. Here's a better idea, you could register and vote for candidates that you believe will bring about the change you desire. Hell, even work for their campaigns on a volunteer basis in your spare time.

BS

I Haven’t heard JJ name since his son went to prison for fraud. Just bc he says something stupid and invoked the name of Univ of KY we are gonna discuss it’s UK message board FFS.

Doesn’t make him relevant. Justmakes Him what he and Rev Al have always been—race baiting POS who only care about themselves.

Jessie is trying to strike while the iron is hot, he knows that the Rupp Arena name change is still fresh on some peoples mind and is just stoking the fire. Kentucky don't need or want him or his opinion, he needs to move on.

Not because of him necessarily but we've already lost a recruit because of this entire situation and the way some fans started acting on Facebook.

What leverage do they have? I don't care what race the guys that play here are. Good luck with that Jesse. "A predominately white state wont buy tickets if UKs roster is suddenly more white." We dont care.

Well...lol....good luck with all that.

You are right we will buy tickets regardless but our team isn't going to be very good

Team would be fine. Iowa and Wisconsin seem to have some of the biggest and nastiest linemen every year. Skill positions might suffer a bit. Regardless, the point is people show up because of the name on the front at the collegiate level. Pro is a bit different. I would hope everyone would want to play for UK, but some racist boycott on their end isnt going to get fans to capitulate. Most UK fans are white and conservative.

Intelligent black folks need to reject JJ and Sharpton the way intelligent whites rejected the John Birch Society and the KKK, David Duke, et al.

Until that happens a colorblind society cannot exist.

Either way, though, UK will be fine. We were here before these scumbags, and we'll be here long after they're gone.

JJ is a leading race hustler, but he's just one of many now. The entire left is pushing this divisive ****. We're as far from a colorblind society as we were 100 years ago. They have no constructive policies so they just push to maintain a victim mentality hoping that keeps their base sufficiently motivated to keep voting for them and their failed policies.

Proof? Who was this snowflake we lost? Once again you spout off something as a fact when you don’t know any more than the rest of us. Air Force ain’t taught you a damn thing.

Well, then, next time, let's railroad some innocent police officers on a bogus murder charge, because, God forbid, otherwise,we might lose a recruit.

Chapman's tweets are now national news. Ole Jessie probably didn't like Rex cutting into his business, so he upped his game. Liberals always eat themselves eventually.

People wouldn’t bring it up if it was some random Twitter user none of us ever heard about.

But Jesse Jackson said it, and it resulted in multiple threads and discussions about it. That’s relevance.

He doesn't even seem to realize that KY is one of the poorest states in the Union. Hurting one of the 5 poorest states economically is kinda the epitome of punching down. JJ has made millions shaking down businesses for him to call off boycotts he started. I hope hs athletes realize how much money people like JJ are costing them in the future. NBA and NFL are both down 20%+. The next cba will not increase like they have been and the one after that might actually go backwards at the rate they are going. I hope this is worth it to them.
