Planning a 3 day backpacking trip to Red River Gorge. Looking for recommendations on best spots to hit on trails. Any help. Thanks.

Indian Staircase is one of my favorites. Eagle's Nest is cool too. If you're backpacking there are some really cool places you can get to with 1-2 day walks. Hit up some websites, there are plenty out there and they will know more than we can tell you.

Eh. It is all awesome.

Make sure to drive through the mountain, eat at Miguel's, fingerblast some hippy mountain climber from Slovakia or wherever at the campground, and call it a weekend.

You'll have fun.

Hike up to Castle Arch across from the old Swift Creek campground area. Always was one of my fav spots there

When I lived in ky I would back pack the gorge a lot. Lots of great trails and camping. Auxier ridge is a great one to start on. Indian stair case and cloudsplitter are great views, but can get busy with people. My favorite trail was swift camp, as it always seemed to have less people and it was a great workout. The rough trail is also a nice long hike, and connects to swift camp.

I would recommend getting some good maps, as there are a lot of off trail systems that can get confusing if you're not use to it.

Grays arch to Auxier ridge is a great hike. Swift Camp Creek has some great spots for camping but may be pretty buggy this time of year. Really anywhere low may be buggy. If you stay up top be careful. Place is notorious for people getting too close to the edge of cliffs and gravity always wins. Alltrails app has some good hikes with details. Enjoy!
