My wife and I are flying out to Denver in July to see a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. It's a bad time of the year for her to get time off so we are probably only staying a couple of days. We are thinking about spending 1 day in Rocky Mountain National Park. Any suggestions for things to do in Denver or specific trails/sites at the National Park?

right across from parking lot at RR is an amazing assortment of dinosaur tracks and bones easily visible from road and trails.

this is in Colorado Springs about 1 1/2 hrs from Denver so maybe its too far away, but I found it to be a cool place just to walk around and look etc....

Rocky Mountain National Park - driving the highest paved road in the Rockies.
Colorado Springs (one hour +/- South) - tour the Air Force Academy
Manatou Park in Colorado Springs - scenery etc.
Colorado Springs - drive up Pikes Peak

Roxborough State Park is just a few miles south of Red Rocks and has a lot of great, not too difficult hikes. If you go up to Boulder there are lot of trails around the Flatirons. Royal Arch is my favorite. Park at Chatauqua but weekdays are preferable because the parking lot was built years ago and fills up very early on weekends.

Went to RR last year and stayed in Lakewood, not far from the venue.
My buddy and I tried to hit up as many breweries as we could in 3 days so wasn't a site seeing trip so to speak.
Golden is a great stop if you don't mind the drive out there. Taking a walk along or tubing Clear Creek is a notable 'to do'
