One of the things we were excited about Lowe coming to UK to play the point was that he wouldn't have to do it all by himself, like he had to do at Pitt, and that would make him even more effective. I think he's in a worse position now than he was last season at Pitt. He's by himself half the time. Our shooting is absolutely awful! If guys can't hit some shots, defenses can sag, the lane is clogged, and Lowe is forcing a shot at the buzzer, usually 1 on 4.
This UK team has no identity against good teams. We can't make threes. We can't score back to the basket. We're not playing for each other or playing team basketball. This team is the opposite of what Mark Pope says he wants. They always start slow. No effort on defense. I have no clue how we came out flat against Alabama, who was playing like their hair was on fire. I wonder if these UK players are aware of how road games will go?
