Remember when we used to look forward to men's bb while not giving a damn about women's bb?

No, I don't remember. I do remember 2000 when we lost to Tennessee Tech to start the year.

It's fine that many have a favourite sport to watch/follow. But don't diss those Gamecocks who work their butts off in a sport that doesn't interest you. Wish them well, and that they represent USC well, and get back to the sport(s) you follow.

As an example, equestrian doesn't interest me, I don't follow it, and have no interest in following it. But I still want the athletes to compete well and represent USC well, and I appreciate those who post summary results of matches on FGF.

As long as USC is sponsoring a sport (and I wish the school had started gymnastics rather than beach volleyball), I want that team in that sport to do well

If our women's BB program wasn't one of the most dominant in the country, I probably wouldn't care much about women's BB. But I'm very happy they are a dominant program, because right now, they are our only elite level program. So, they at least give me a Gamecock sport to track this time of year. Otherwise, I'd just be waiting for the snow to melt until I can get out and play some golf - sometime in late April, probably.

No, I mean lose by 30+. It wouldn't even be competitive.
It is clear to me you are a high school boys and college womens basketball expert. When may I expect to see you on a cable TV sports program?

The fact that women's CBB vs boy's high school basketball is even a conversation says everything you need to know.

And that's okay. As long as it's a relatively level playing field, enjoy it.

I'm not a huge BB fan to begin with, but I remember the Frank McGuire days. I like winning. This ain't it.
Dawn said they often lose when they go against men from the general student body. If they played our men’s team it would be ridiculous.

How I view basketball season has always depended on how football season went. If the football season went well then you kind of look at basketball season as just the icing on the cake if we do well there also. If we don’t do well in basketball, no biggie, because we did well in the sport that mattered. On the other hand if football season sucked, like 2023, then you look forward to basketball season to redeem your sports year.

When John McEnroe said that any player in the top 500 of the men’s tour could beat Serena Williams, some people went apes*it . . . until Serena Williams agreed with him! It’s apples and oranges. So while it wouldn’t be unheard of to say that an exceptional boy’s high school BB team could potentially beat our women’s team, it doesn’t lessen the credit they deserve for being the cream of the crop in women’s college BB for years.

Amen! The softball team is doing better than last year, also.

You know times are bad when we're bringing up the softball record in mid-February.
