Is he even 30 yet? That is quite an accomplishment for any young man.

After getting booted from the Sooner football team, Would he recommend OU to any talented HS players? Doubtful.

Freer, TX? He's probably the only person that applied for the job.

Look at it on Google Maps. The only point of interest that stands out on the 1000 ft per mark zoom is Dairy Queen.

3,241 people. 33.1% under the age of 18. Divide those kids up into 18 equal age groups, and you've got 55 students per class. 28 boys per class.

Being a former NFL QB probably weighed more than any skills or other resume stat.

Evidently, there's no car dealership in Freer either.

Why wouldn't he? The last reports I saw was he apologizes for putting the OU program through his mistakes. Maybe he would direct his players to a program that has some scruples. Come to think of it there were three players that got the Bob Stoops axe and none of them blamed the coaching staff.

They blamed themselves and were told by the coaching staff to stay away from the booster leaches they would encounter.

At least, that's the way I remember it..........

Hmmmm, not how I recall the split. Rhett and family were very upset.

This.

I wouldn't count on him sending any players to a bob Stoops OU team.
I wouldn't count on Freer High School developing many D1 talents. Not a knock on the town, just statistics.

~ 2925 new D1 scholarship players each year.
~ 3.3M high school graduates each year - 1.65M boys

about 1 in 565 high school graduates will receive a D1 football scholarship each year.

~ 25 Freer male graduates each year

That's still only a 4.4% chance if every single boy in America had an equal chance (50:50 odds).

Good for him. You have to start somewhere.

BTW, there are plenty of people out there that are two completely different people at age 21 and age 29.

I read an article online about Rhett and he last played for the Raiders in the pre season a couple of years ago, and then got cut. He had planned to go try Canadian football, but in a workout, he was doing some agility work and tore his achilles tendon. When that happened, he decided to do what his dad and done and went looking for a high school coaching job and found an assistant's job in the Houston area.

He won't be 30 for a couple of months. So he's really ahead of the curve. I know somebody earlier in the thread made fun of Freer HS. But any hs hc job in Texas is a pretty good place from which to build a career.
