RIP....Bill Withers

Bill Withers, a son of West Virginia who reached the top of the musical world with a string of hit songs in the 1970s, died Monday at the age of 81 in Los Angeles, his family revealed on Friday. Withers’ family told the Associated Press that the singer died from heart complications.

A lot of talent comes out of that region.Little Jimmy Dickens, Fred "Sonic" Smith of the MC5 and husband of Patti Smith for 40 years,the core of the Breeders, the twins, Kim and Kelly Deal's mother was from up the holler Bill Withers was from and the twins came home every summer to visit Grandma.

Bobby Bland was supposed to be from down that way, but his Charleston relatives disagree.

If you get famous, I'm convinced every piss-ant town with a school nearby will claim you.
