Damn. Sad news. Loved that guy. Sounds like they performed last night and he died shortly after.

Finally gets to see his buddy Andy Wood again. RIP Cornell, one of my favorites.

Is Eddie Vedder looking over his shoulder or feeling bullet proof as he is the last man standing from the grunge era.

Of the front men from the big 4 from that era, only Vedder lives. Grohl is currently the best frontman in rock but back then he was just a band member. Outside of Jerry Cantrell not a lot of non frontmen's names leap to mind from those bands.
True, but Grohl has certainly proven himself to be a man (who is still standing from the grunge era).

Every word I said is what I mean
Every word I said is what I mean
Everything I gave is what I need
Virgin eyes and dirty looks
On what I have and why I took
Counting all the hands I shook

Now I know why you've been shaking
Now I know why you've been shaking
Now I know why you've been shaking
Now I know why you've been shaking

So bleed your heart out
There's no more rides for free
Bleed your heart out
I said what's in it for me, what's in it for me

Everything I've held is what I've freed
Everything I've held is what I've freed
Everything I've shown is what I feel
Buying lies and stealing jokes
And laughing every time I choke
Biding all the time you took

Now I know why you've been taken
Now I know why you've been taken
Now I know why you've been taken
Now I know why you've been taken

So bleed your heart out
There's no more rides for free, yeah
Bleed your heart out
I said what's in it for me, what's in it for me
What's in it for, what's in it for

Every word I said is what I mean
Everything I gave is what I need
Everything I've held is what I've freed
Everything I've shown is what I feel

Virgin eyes and dirty looks
On what I have and why I took
Counting all the hands I shook
Now I know why you've been shaking

Buying lies and stealing jokes
And laughing every time I choke
Biding all the time you took
Now I know why you've been taken

I am so saddened by this. I love Soundgarden. They were supposed to be in Pryor this next weekend. Superunkown and OK computer were probably my two favorite albums of the 90's.

Amazing how many top music artists of same generation have died as a result of suicide or overdose. Cobain, Prince, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, and now Cornell. (Unfortunately, I am sure I am missing several that could join that list).

Saw Soundgarden live for the first time at Lollapolooza in 1992.

never heard of the guy as this era of music never interested me...but I've learned a musician is a musician...they are all interconnect in some manner. No matter what type of music you have. Just listening to a few songs I will say I was blind to his genius...well, maybe not genius, but his style of music. He was impressive on just the few songs I heard. It's a shame these guys, well girls also, disappear from what they love doing. For some unknown reason, without warning for most, they make a decision and it leaves everyone shocked and confused. Too bad this kind of talent doesn't last long for many...well, the talent does but not the person. I'm sure there is probably some kind of reason but it just should never come to this.
