How do we move on from this? F*ck you Coca Cola.

If you like your Coke Zero exactly the way it is now, it might be time to start stockpiling cans of sodas.

On Wednesday, Coca-Cola announced that it would stop selling Coke Zero in the US in August, replacing it with a beverage with a different recipe, design, and name: Coke Zero Sugar.

"It is a reinvention of Coke Zero," CEO James Quincey said in a call with investors.

According to Coca-Cola, Coke Zero Sugar is closer to the taste of Coca-Cola Original. However, with zero sugar and zero calories, the drink also appeals to customers who are seeking lower-sugar options.

Coke Zero is already a major hit outside of America, with growth figures reaching the teens. In the US, Coke Zero sales grew 3.5% in 2016, compared to Diet Coke's drop of 1.9% in the same time period.

If you aren't innovating your products, you will lose is a theory these American executives now follow. Sometimes to their own detriment. Drives me crazy watching others do what I used to be involved in doing. Instead of improving something that is good with some issues, executives now think it is smarter to throw the baby out with the bathwater and present something else. Sound familiar to other current issues?

Coke should go with the non-gmo,sustainability and locally sourced marketing craze. Tons of rubes are waiting to get on board.

This is a let down, I hoped they were going to start putting coke back in it.

Shades of " New Coke " fiasco. I used to do contract work for them. Its all about profit for them. Some key ingredient must have gotten too expensive.

I was listening to a news blurb about this on the way in to work. Coke Zero was the #1 brand baritone and sales had risen 3.5% over last year compared to an overall drop in soda consumption. Interesting decision to say the least.
