First saw Boothe when he played Jim Jones in The Guyana Tragedy - a cheesy made-for-TV-movie, but he was still very good. Then he was outstanding in Southern Comfort, an underrated movie that's held up well over time. RIP - gone way too soon.

Had it not been for Gerald MacRaney's portrayal of George Hearst, Powers Boothe's Cy Tolliver would have been the most evil character in Deadwood. Hell, even Al Swearengen had some charm about him, and the occasional flash of kindness. Cy Tolliver was just deliciously evil, and I don't think anyone could have done a better job.

This coming from somebody who loves westerns........ and Costner...using the word LOVE here. But holy crap that movie sucked ***. RIP Curly Bill.
I think you're confusing Tombstone with Kevin Costner's Wyatt Earp, which was, as you say, pretty bad and (seemingly) about 9 hours too long. Boothe played Curly Bill in Tombstone, which was a much better movie. .

MY BAD!!!!!
They both came out around same time. It was simply no comparison. While Wyatt Warp may have been more factual and longer, it can't hold a candle to Tombstone. Kurt Russell way better Wyatt than Costner. Val Kilmer way better Doc than Dennis Quaid. Also as mentioned, Powers Booth great as Curly Bill. Johnny Ringo great. Also had Sam Elliott and Bill Paxton as Wyatts brothers.
