Gaylord Perry, Hall of Fame pitcher who won 2 Cy Young awards, dead at 84
Gaylord Perry, a Hall of Fame pitcher who won two Cy Young Awards over the course of his career, died in his home Thursday in South Carolina. He was 84.
Yea, even Cy Young died a few years back.If I'm not mistaken, of the 24 MLB pitchers who have won 300 games, only Nolan Ryan, Steve Carlton, Tom Glavine, Greg Maddux, Randy Johnson, and Roger Clemens remain.
I doubt we'll ever see another 300-game-winner (Verlander has an outside shot, but it's not likely).
RIP.
