I saw a video last night of the 20 hardest songs to play on guitar. IMO most of them weren't very good songs. It is hard to put into words, but just because someone can technically 'play' the guitar doesn't mean they put out good songs. I've heard plenty of guitar solos that I could never play no matter how much I practiced, but they just sound like a guy showing off as opposed to someone creating a beautiful song. Its like a golfer than can drive 400+ yards but can't putt to save his life.

So yeah Jeff Beck was good

Jeff Beck and Imelda May meet Les and Mary.

One of my favorite memories.

I watched this performance on TV and my teenage daughter (at the time) came home from a school function because she was bored and did not fit in with her schoolmates.

She sat on the couch frustrated and ended up watching the whole thing.

Somewhere in the middle, she just smiled and said something like:

He is the real deal, isn't he, dad? :)

I love me some Imelda May as well.

Could not agree more. Technically, Beck was incredible, a one-of-a-kind talent. But, I never liked his music. Appreciate the talent but can't say I like much of anything that I heard, especially once he went solo/fusion. Again, great, unbelievably gifted guitar player. But I'd rather hear BB King play than Jeff Beck.

Another 60s Rock Guitar God gone. He was, for a long time, considered one of the best ever (maybe still is). If there's a rock n roll heaven, you know they've got a helluva band.
