I grew up listening to Jerry Blavat on the radio in Philly. The man had tons of energy and enthusiasm. Jerry will be missed for sure.

Philly area guys of a certain age know who this is.....

The Hits just keep on coming....:(

My parents always talked about him then he ended up on wxpn 88.5 in philly and I would listen to him. Such great stories and background on songs from the 50s. He was an encyclopedia on music.

For a less flattering look back at the Geater, check out these articles. He had some long lasting relationships that might be described at best, as "unsavory".

You know… not everyone considers these relationships “unsavory”. Some just see it as a manner of "conducting business".

There was a movie a number of year ago called "The In Crowd" that may have been based on his life. Had Donovan Leitch in it as the star and Sally Starr made a cameo with Peter Boyle playing his father "Uncle Pete". Joe Pantoliano played "Perry Parker" the character supposedly based on Blavat (there was a lawsuit over it).
