Always a rough day when we lose a member of the Kentucky sports family. Condolences to his loved ones.
I'm curious what the training rules disagreement was in the mid-1950s.
Several players left town as no practice was scheduled the next day. Rupp found out and called a practice. Players returned in time, but they knew Rupp would punish them so they asked Puckett to speak for them. It ballooned and Puckett left the team comparing playing for UK to going to war. For a long time, you used to hear TV announcers use the phrase, "so and so is really going to war" when a player was on a hot streak.
Coach Rupp probably took a page out of Coach Bear Bryant’s playbook when it came to training. I watched the Junction Boys. The Bear didn’t mess around. Brutal.
My dad got to go to a bunch of UK practices back in the day. Linville was a good ole boy and a cutup by my fathers stories about him.
When I try to go to Jon Scott’s website (linked above) - I’m blocked. Get a message that says This Connection Is Not Private. Anyone else have this issue?
That's a problem with the server configuration. I think this issue happens if you are using a recent version of Safari on an updated Mac or iPhone. I don't know when this will be updated.
In the meantime there's two workarounds: 1.) you can paste in the web address into your browser window and then remove the "s" from https so that it's only http. 2.) or you can use a different browser than Safari.
