Was in court for a couple days in Pikeville and we had short last day and I asked the CSO what sights were around and he named a few off and said 30 minutes from here is the birthplace of Loretta Lynn still as it was and they give tours. Then he said I would do go today because it’s was pouring the rain and you’ll never get up that holler in this kind of rain. That’s when I found out everything ain’t blacktopped or concrete down there 🍺

Loretta was a badass. Not one to beg some hussy named Jolene to stay away from her man. Instead:

Or,

This is why I loved that woman. She was a fighter and not a wall flower. Tough. I had a crush on her and another Kentucky girl, Skeeter Davis, when I first heard both of them. Kentucky has produced the best of the best and she was right there at the top.

RIP Loretta Lynn and RIP Skeeter Davis. We miss you but thankfully we have your music.

Mount Rushmore of Female Country Artists: Maybelle Carter, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and Patsy Cline, in that order.

Wife and I saw her at The Louisville Palace about 7 or 8 years ago, voice still strong as ever even though she sat on a stool for a portion of the show, timeless music and always proud to be a Kentucky Girl...

Sawnee, I met Loretta, her and Aunt Skeeter were dear friends. Loretta was a kind, lovely woman.
