Two thirds of this board is probably too young to know who she was or much about her but another icon of my youth died today. The great Mary Tyler Moore. A staple of two great sitcoms and a top five on my Mrs. Robinson list. (What you young'uns would call a MILF)

Very talented, especially as a comedic actress. As you elude to, she was smoking hot when she was younger.

She actually livid a lot longer than what could've been expected. She had diabetes all her life and was a heavy drinker when she was younger.

The thing was, she was also an incredibly good actress when taking a turn in a serious drama.

I remember watching her in Ordinary People, where she plays...... well, no better way to say it but a hateful beyotch. She did so well in the role you actually forgot she was MTM for the duration of the film.

It was one of the handful of roles she ever played on the big screen and she was Oscar nominated for best Actress. Why she never did more, or was offered more film roles is a mystery to me. Most of the movies she did were the "made for tv", lower budget variety.
