I forget the name of the restaurant on Market but it had a overhang out front and an up and downstairs. Used to go there for lunch a lot and would see him all the time.Used to see the golden boy shuffling around downtown Louisville a few years back. Always had a smile on his face. Heck of an athlete. RIP Mr. Hornung.

I believe Howard Schnellenberger (Flaget '52) and Paul Hornung (Flaget '53) were teammates in HS. Bear Bryant recruited Hornung, but he chose Notre Dame instead. One decision. Imagine the possibilities. Sigh....I had a brush-by encounter with Hornung ~ 30-35 years ago a sports bar in Henderson. He was with Sam Ball and other folks I didn’t recognize. We said hi to each other and shook hands.
When I think of him I wonder how he would have done at UK.....
50s and 60s were a really different era in comparison to today. We aren't going to discuss him getting kicked out of the NFL for gambling on it are we?
