I don’t think many realize how badly we needed Pope. Watch the press conference, look at the former players, listen to Mitch. “Find our way back”. It was a scathing indictment on one guy and the system he set up that ventured away from who we are. We had to have family re-established at this program. I’ve never heard of a major program singling out which players do and don’t support their program after a coaching change. Destructive doesn’t even begin to describe this. We needed Pope and I’m glad he’s here. If he doesn’t work then oh well, the UK family will be healed from this madness. Arkansas might not ever recover when he’s done playing the “nobody can win without me” routine.

the players will in the nba will be back. Eventually cal will retire and no issue. ID try to get some cal players in rump next year to make the Y. Maybe OT, JW, idk but keeping lines open is important to fundraising and the mystique of the program.
Are we still operating under the assumption cal’s players are bankrolling the program?

Glad-handing. Nothing wrong with it. Just don't think it's taking any kind of stand. "I love Kentucky. I love Cal. I love babies...."

Respectfully, Killswitch ... if you "don’t think many realize how badly we needed Pope", then you haven't been posting on or reading Rupp Rafters for the past ten years ! ! !
Nevertheless ... Go 'Cats ! ! !

Meh. Can it really be done in the era of NIL and the transfer portal? Nobody sticks around for 3 years anymore much less 4. How many UK players have earned their degree from Kentucky in the past five years?

How did you even find this thread from one year ago??

Who said? Did you ever hear any specific player publicly say that?
While no former player came out and said it, Cal was pretty up front that he was going to ask former players if it was approved by the university.

I’m no Cal guy, but his players are pretty loyal to him and I have no reason not to believe he would have been able to get former players to give money towards a new facility. How much? Who knows

You ain't wrong. Good RIDDANCE ... just glad he's GONE. "DESTRUCTIVE" ... well said. In the END, it was all just SAD the way it ended because it NEVER had to be THAT WAY. It was a choice made by CAL and now he gets to SUCK on it. BBN can breathe easy now and Kentucky can get back to being KENTUCKY. In the end, cliche's Cal threw around about the PLAYERS, like "We can't hide you here" and "They think they poop ice cream" were more descriptive of Cal. Karma is relentless.
