My political take and Meathead’s political opinions couldn’t have been more opposite, but for gods sake, WTF is going on this world!?! He was a great artist and a human being. Idk if this was politically motivated, but FFS, we have got to do better.
We’ve got to quit ramping the discourse up to 11 and take it down 6/7 notches.

Sad, what happened to Gene Hackman?
His wife contracted hantavirsus (sp?) and passed away. Hackman had Alzheimer's and eventually passed away with no one to care for him. It took them a while to realize what happened.

Edit: looked it up...sounds like he lived about a week after she passed and then it was another week before the authorities discovered their bodies.

Absolutely horrific and so sad for his and his wife's families.

While Reiner directed some of the most memorable films of the 1980s and 1990s, he was one of the nice guys in Hollywood (a place full of a-holes).

His dad, Carl, was a pretty successful director in his own right (having directed a no. of Steve Martin films) and prior to that was the creator of the Dick Van Dyke Show and was a comedian and writer during the early days of television and prior to that, radio.

Rob's former wife, Penny Marshall (of "Laverne & Shirley" fame) also became a distinguished film director after acting (Rob being "Meathead" in "All in the Family").

Penny's brother, Gary, created "Happy Days", "Laverne & Shirley" and "Mork & Mindy" and also became a film director ("Pretty Woman", etc).

That's a lot of creative talent we have lost...

Picture of Rob and Nick 2016. Interesting body language here. Look how much space is between their bodies despite having their arms draped over the shoulders. Tension in that relationship.
That was about the time he was doing interviews about his addiction I believe. They definitely weren't close. It's sad how addiction can destroy not only the addict but those around them.

That’s not good news. Rob is/was 78 and his spouse is/was 68.
What a sad way for your life to end being stabbed to death in your own home. I’m sure you have the perceived the safety of being in your own house, and then potentially your son is the murderer of both you and your wife.

So sad. By chance I happened to watch Spinal Tap II earlier in the day, only to hear of this hours later.
How was Spinal Tap II? I loved Spinal Tap I. I saw that Spinal Tap II was being made but I haven't seen it. I will see it if I have the chance, although I'm skeptical about how good sequels like that can be, but the first one was so good that I'd watch the second one just because of that.

There is no good way to die. Everything passes. It's not death I fear but the process of dying.

Just saw it last night coincidentally like retrospm - didn't think it was as good as the first one but nit bad - lot's of guest stars.

Believe he just had a recurring guest role on the most recent season of The Bear. Reiner has one of the all time heater streaks in directing too - incredible run here…

What a shame. He had a string of movies as a Director that was very, very impressive.
I read he had a re-occuring role in the The Bear.
Has anyone seen Spinal Tap 2?
