Stoops sounds extremely excited about this kid. Said he was getting calls this morning from other teams wanting him. Spoke very highly of him.

if he camped over the summer he would have been ranked much higher. pretty much every scout agrees that he has the talent, just didn't show up to places to compete against the other guys so rivals, scout, espn, UA, nike, etc couldn't rate him where he could have been.

oh well...worked out well for UK.

Probably a good thing for uk that he didn't attend any of those. He had some big boys looking at him, but if he went to those and shown out he would have had everybody after him.

Robinson is a huge catch and grateful to him that he wasn't swayed by any of the big dogs who came calling.

This class has quite a few underrated guys that quite honestly would put this class in the top 15. Robinson Ross and Kash are 3 elite talents not good but elite division 1 talents. All 3 where a little undervalued here on rivals because of one thing or another. Robinson camped only at UK that's it. kid is 6"2 and ran a electronic 4.34 at uk indoor track. Kash was undervalued because of where he is from and the level of comp but he is a guy who will be a fixture. Ross is a freaking monster this dude is fluid and long he is a nfl wr.

Ross just has no film he played 5 games at juco and the staff purposely had him redshirted and he absolutely shunned every high major that tried coming at him.

Had to tell Eliot he could not steal him for defense. Ross refused to talk to any other schools. True blue!

I wish ALL of our recruits were "undervalued"!!

It means the Big Boys are less likely to know who they are so our staff can keep them hid.
I trust our staff over ANY recruiting service!

Sorry J Rowland

Maybe they could work at a trade & get some high future draft picks.

LOL! Exactly what I was thinking, what other teams "called about him" on NSD?

Anyway, DR is a Henry Clay grad like myself, looking forward to him playing this fall.

DBs and OL are groupings that any school would be happy to have.
I agree. I can't imagine there are too many Oline groups that are better than UK's. Stoops was fortunate that two absolute stud linemen were Kentucky boys and to his credit, he kept them home.

Exactly right. The kid had a scholarship offer from Notre Dame. He was an early commit to Kentucky. If he had gone to a lot of camps and stayed uncommitted, his offer sheet would have looked like Griffin's or better. He and KD will be the 2 best defensive players produced out of Kentucky high schools in a while, and that includes guys like Elam, Forrest, and Guy.

Stoops may be able to say similar things next year re: instate OL with Wills and Bentley. I know Bentley hasn't yet achieved attention like Drake, and ditto for Wills compared to Young, but, if comments from the Army AA game are true, I still think BOTH will be HIGHLY recruited

Actually he was on the phone with Auburn when Stoops called him this morning at 7AM. He told him to tell them "I have the fax in hand." So they where calling him. He was the 1st official, but Auburn fought till the very end.

I misunderstood Stoops comments, I thought he was referring to himself, not to DR. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: I r not smart some times.

Actually, I think Stoops said that about Jordan Griffin.

In any case, both are very good new members of Big Blue.

In my opinion he is the cream of the crop!
The defensive backs, Walder, and KD are the best defensive players in our 2016 class. Robinson is going to be a great player. So will Griffin and Gilliam. But KD could be the best. The overlooked guy is Bannerman, who has a big body with long arms and will get a lot of chances to play. On the offensive side, Young, Jackson, Leavitt, Rose, Snell, Ross, Holtzclaw. I'm not talking about immediate impact, only upside. Steve Johnson has a pretty good chance too. If Johnson has a great offseason in the gymnasium and wins the starting job, he could become a big story.

I wish they could redshirt all of these guys except the JUCOs even though I know it isn't possible.

An interesting comment. Stoops redshirted 8 true freshmen in 2013 and 2014, then 7 in 2015. The class he signed today might be his best class. Most of the jucos will play immediately, but I expect most of the freshmen to redshirt. Just like every year, fans will want these guys to play right away. I remain skeptical about this because 2014 was another excellent class, and those guys are coming into their own now. Also because Stoops will have 7 juniors and seniors on his 2016 roster who came from juco, plus 3 juniors who just transferred in from Big 10 schools. So the need to play true freshmen has gone down. Jordan Griffin, Grant McKinness will play immediately because they are needed. As I see it, no choice with those 2. I believe Kash Daniel and either Bennie Snell or Asim Rose will play because they will force their way onto the depth chart by beating out returners. Strength and lateral quickness at a position where true freshmen can contribute quickly gives KD a higher probability of immediate impact than any other true freshman. Although I have made a strong case on other threads why Landon Young ought to redshirt next year, the temptation for Stoops to play him will be so overwhelming that he might play. I hope not, but I understand the competing factors on both sides of that decision. Unless Hoak is forced to play because of injuries, I expect all the other freshmen will redshirt.

If Robinson truly can run a 4.34 40 that is ELITE speed. ELITE ELITE.

I cannot wait to see who ends up playing and who redshirts. Can't wait to see how the redshirts look this fall either. Just excited and ready to hit somebody!!

We landed a few talented athletes who have only played ball for 2 or so years. As RS sophs, these kids could be really much higher regarded than they are now. The cool thing is that those players were not late arrivals to the class, but players scouted and evaluated by our staff early on for their potential.
