They have to stop Watson. Ever since Saban has been at bama, their biggest problem is stopping a dual threat quarterback. This bama defense is unbelievably good this year though.

Without the 5 turnovers and fluke TD Bama would have beaten OM by 30, but those are part of the game and OM isn't taking the W off the record books. But unlike the Bama defenses in the past this Bama defense hasn't really had any problems stopping dual threat running qbs. AU, State, A&M and even UT showed them running dual threat qbs. While UT came close to beating Bama, they didn't score much and when you hold a team to 14 you expect to win, plus UT played them off a buy week.

I have posted this before, all the other Bama defenses have been huge DL who stonewalled the running game, this one isn't like that. Their DL: are in the 305-315 range, they still stonewall the run with those LBers they have, plus they can rush the passer. They are very disciplined in their rush, ends don't come flying in out of control, they wait for that number 93, Allen to collapse the interior and he does by bull rushing one guy or splitting a double team and when the qb tries to roll out he runs into one of those DE. They have been able to generate tremendous pressure on the qb only rushing 4 all year, playing 2 deep and 5 playing short/intermediate zones. If Bama can generate pressure like they have against everyone all year against CU, they will have trouble moving the ball too. The only 3 above average teams CU played this year got steamrolled in their bowl games. Clemson can win the game, but not without getting the breaks Ole Miss got. 5 turnovers, a fluke TD off a prayer thrown that looked like a punt as he was being sacked that bounced off one players helmet to a receiver for a 76 yard td and a blown call on ineligible downfield, Ole Miss was holding on at the end to win by 6. No huge difference in turnovers Bama wins by 17+, Clemson is a good team, but Bama is on another level this year defensively, they probably have 15-18 in their 2 deep defense who will play in the NFL with quite a few first rounders.. We won 9 games mostly with defense this year and we don't have a single player who would start for them, and only 3-4 who would be in their 2 deep.

UT played Bama tough at Bama.. Clemson is closer to UT in style than anybody else Bama played. This is a good matchup. Clemson's OL looks pretty competitive to me.

They did play them competitive at Bama, but still only scored 14 coming off a bye week. Bama played A&M the week before, not a great team but a different team to prepare for. Clemson OL looked competitive against OU, MichSt's looked good against tOSU too. I believe CU can win, but not without a lot of help from Bama with turnovers. But you could be right, CU might be able to force Bama out of what they have done all year and have to bring an extra man to get pressure which would open up lanes for Watson to run. Henry could also go down like both OU backs did and that would force the qb to beat them, or course Bama's 3rd and 4th string backs are both 5* guys who have seen the field very much who knows what they can do if they suddenly become the guy.

This game will be closer than the MSU game but I think Bama will pull away to win by double digits.

We decided our basketball road trip for the year would be to Tuscaloosa which is next weekend. Good call on our part. Looking forward to being down there the weekend before the game.

I don't really care who wins, but do expect a great game. Clemson will score. Louisville and Gratham were pretty effective at slowing down the Clemson offense, but nobody really else has been and that was September.

Wonder if winning or losing this game better helps Dabo's chances of being Alabama's next coach ...
