Root for Hoosiers?

It appears nearly certain if Indiana manages to lose again to Northwestern tonight that they'll be out of the NCAA tourney, and Crean will be gone.

If they win, a decent chance of being an 11-12 seed, and Crean may well stay. Their abused-children fan base will accept any crumb as a sign of progress.

This is no easy call for me. I hate Indiana the way some of you hate Louisville or Duke. But someday even the hapless Hoosiers could possibly stumble into a competent coach who can keep the Teagues and Lyles at home, and be a consistent Top-20 program, with occasional Final Four aspirations.

Do UK fans root for that day to be postponed by pulling for Clappy and the Clowns tonight?

Never, ever. Not against UL, not even against N Korea. They have always been, and always will be on the top of my **** list. Clear enough?

I believe their A.D. Glass who says his job is not in jeopardy. Two reasons: $14 million and there are no other marquee coaches they could bring in this year. I believe they will make a run at Brad Stevens after this season. Regardless, Crean will be around another year.

My head tells me to root for IU, but my heart......I'm sorry, I just can't do it!

Not for me. I love watching IU lose too much to ever do that. Let them lose and send Crean packing. I can live with the consequences of them getting a different coach a year ahead of schedule. Besides, I want to see them eat the ten million buyout and see how they handle that if they do fire crean. It's good all the way around, any way you cut it.

Lose, IU, then fire crean and slowly twist in the wind and give us the spectacle of ponying up ten million so we can all watch you losers writhe in agony over that !

I will root against them. Always. Will take my chances that they are stupid enough to retain him. I like those odds.

Haha I think you're right. I'd say they're on their last wit with Crean and are ready to move on.

I'll root for them. Why not? Tom Crean has been the perfect coach for IU, I'd hate to see him go prematurely. Besides, I think he's just a couple of years away from breaking through, might even make another Sweet 16 appearance before too long. That means another banner for our IU friends

Root for the Hoosiers? N0 EFFING WAY. Hell, I hate the whole state so much I hope Jimmy Chitwood misses every time that damned movie comes on.

I'm banking they're stupid enough to keep him anyway.

Do you or does anyone have a breakdown of his buyout structure? Maybe it can be estimated how active his fans here have to be in the process...

I root for them to lose, and keep Crean. Because that's exactly what's going to happen. Screw Indiana.

Rooting against IU - ALWAYS! even if my Mom was their Coach.... I don't think Stevens going to IU is a guarantee...they may end up with a good coach, but IU isn't that special anymore. If Crean gets "creaned" maybe he'll end up at an SEC school....

Hard to understand why so many people are sure Crean will be gone if he loses tonight. It would be difficult to imagine that they would give him his ridiculous payout to get rid of him at this point. I feel certain he is there for at least one more year regardless.

How far is Indiana from Chicago? It looks like no one from iu is there today to cheer for their team. No wonder they did not want to play UK in Indy. I am hoping they lose today to ensure the spiral goes down further. GBB

Looks like the Loosiers won with ease...as I expected. So there was never any dilemma on whether or not to "root" for them or not. They are going to get in, as an 11-12 seed...unless they somehow beat Maryland tomorrow, which I doubt.

The consensus up here (Indy) is that there will be a buyout at 4mil and no sooner than that; look for it about sixteen months from now

In the meantime, get your popcorn ready for Clappy the Clown time

It's 3 hours from Bloomington to Chicago, all interstate/divided highway

This. Can't stand IU and their little dog, Clappy too!
