Best player on the court was a senior headed to Duquesne next year, Kareem Rozier. Ja’Vaughn Hannah, who is headed to Western Michigan but reported an Iowa offer and NU interest, had two early dunks.

St. Mary’s started two freshmen including one, Trey McKinney, who apparently has DePaul and Kansas offers.

Clarkston has a bunch of little guys. The guy who should have been their best player, Fletcher Loyer, moved to Indiana during the pandemic and has committed to Purdue. (Foster Loyer was Michigan Mr Basketball, sat on the MSU bench, and is now lighting it up at Davidson.)

Clarkston rotates two big sophomores (6-7ish) at center, one who has a real good sense on shot blocking (Zach something) and one who spends more time chucking and boarding (Brody something)

My son played against McKinney this past summer. He's got a chance to be pretty good.

On a roster that appears to rotate 7, and missing a sophomore guard due to injury, they chose to play their eighth man rather than the two bigs together :)
Thanks for dropping by my neighborhood! My son is good friends with the new starter, who was inserted to guard Kareem. He's also good friends with a couple of the other starters and played travel ball with them.

Clarkston always fields fundamentally sound players who work hard on defense and play fearlessly. In recent years they have had experienced size, but this year the would-be big man, a great athlete who had MAC offers as a QB, decided not to play. They win this game with him. St Mary's has firepower but seems indifferent through long stretches of games. Hannah sure likes to talk himself up during games, and it would be cool if he backed that up with more effort. Kareem is terrific, though.

My son played against him last year in fall ball. He's talented for sure but I think it's too early for all the accolades. His dad is a piece of work.

You see a lot of crazy parents out there. Lol

Have you watched Phoenix Glassnor from De LaSalle? I’m hoping Northwestern gets involved with him.

Nope, not yet. I’m familiar with the starting PG but not him. Terrific program the coach — a really good guy — is building there.
