Any word on his potential availability in Sacramento? Seems like he should be recovered by now if it's just the ankle...

Just watched some of practice. He’s not going to play. Hunger was dribbling and shooting and out of his boot. Roper was watching practice looking in good spirits.

Collins really screwed up playing Roper so late in a blowout in his first game back from the initial injury...

Could have happened any time in any game.

Roper just could not stay healthy this year.
Yeah but if he re-injured the same ankle playing late in a blowout, then it is likely that he was brought back before he was fully healed. In other words, possibly avoided.

Pretty sure that’s not Collins’ call. The training and medical staff determine when players are ready to return. Then it’s up to coaches to decide how to best reintegrate them into the rotation. The coaches have to trust their medical and training staff.

It looks like rain this afternoon. There are a some on this board who will find a way to blame Coach Collins for that.

Okay now you're just being dumb on purpose.
If the trainers are forcing the coach to play a recently injured guy in garbage time, something's wrong.

Trainers “he’s cleared to play with no further risk of injury”. Coach “I’ll ease the player back to full speed by playing him in garbage time”

If the trainer is mouthing the words "no further risk of injury" he is a fool.

Of course the trainers cleared Roper to play. Anything beyond that is the head coach's call.

And the facts say that Collins played Roper for 22 minutes, including the garbage time.

You can't blame the coach for the injury, but you can't absolve him either.

Injuries happen all the time. No way to know if a different approach would have worked. Plus, does Brooks develop as much or as quickly with Roper being available?

Absolutely true. We have played better since Roper got hurt, as both Martinelli and Barnhizer have gotten more minutes.

He stepped in someone' ankle. He could have slipped walking back to the dorm things happen.

Was is Westhead's fault for Hank Gathers?
