Did not know how to interpret the fact that 2 guys played 37 minutes and only 7 guys really got minutes at all. It seems that Jordan Ash, Benson and Taphorn would need to get a little more in non-conference game. So what does it mean? 1. Chris Collins is way more uptight than he even appears. 2. Those guys are not going to figure into the rotation at all and 3. If we stay with these minutes will our guys specifically BM and VL be fresh for the BIG10 season. As good as the team seems I am concerned with wearing out if we don't get more minutes from more guys,

That Eastern Washington team looked pretty good to me. The only thing they lacked was a huge center. Telling Collins quote after the game: "This was no time for experimentation." I agree. Lots of opportunities in December to get more minutes for other guys (and I don't think Falzon is quite ready yet.) Chris did lots of subbing in the Miss Valley opener. I look for tight rotations in these next few games with the quality opponents we play. Can't afford a stumbling start if we want to be in the post season mix.

CC said that he stuck w/ what was working (as EW turned out to be a handful) and he probably wanted his best defenders on the floor as much as possible.

For BB in particular, was not a good match-up; CC said that BB will get his minutes when the 'Cats start playing teams w/ centers.

Eight is the right number for a rotation in college hoops. Starting five and a backup for each position "group" (C F G). Flexibility to go small or big.

Freshman bigs, unless they're one and done types, are usually quite raw. It doesn't surprise me that Benson is not quite ready yet. Doesn't mean he won't be ready by Feb/March. But I have no problem with CC easing him into things. He is as at a stage where he is getting better everyday in practice and by just watching games.

We know Taphorn has a limited skillset and one that is replicated by Falzon and even Skelley. Unless there is foul trouble, he will not see many minutes all year. No surprise.

Ash is one where I was hoping for improvement and some contribution. But, it seems clear that Brown has passed him by and really the way BMac plays, there just aren't many minutes to be had. We worry about BMac running down, but he is a warrior. He'll be fine. He needs to get a few strategic minutes on the bench around tv timeouts and those minutes belong to Brown. Other than that, we want BMac on the floor.

Think you nailed it with point #2. There will be plenty of blowout coming up, Bryant, Chicago State, IUPUI and Houston Baptist, ring a bell. Do think however that Benson will eventually get more minutes as the season rolls along.
