My team is very strong on defense and OBP, and there aren't any giant splits among my hitters vs LHP or RHP.

In my matchup with crow, I am not going to downplay my opponents team but rather talk mine up. I only ask voters to please at least read my breakdown and if you have the time, please research any players you might not be familiar with, particularly Addie Joss, Eddie Collins and Tris Speaker.

I think the biggest strength of my team, besides the obvious tremendous talent is the continuity of having not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, but 5 members of arguably (just barely) the greatest team of all time, The Big Red Machine. Their familiarity of playing with each other will be a thing of beauty.

My team has versatility, particularly Rose and Phillips who each play 6 positions and switch hit, as does Posada. Tremendous defense, most notably Bench, Kaline, Concepcion and Speaker. Post season success with 35 World Series Championships. Individual career leaders in hits, games played, plate appearances, at bats, sacrifice bunts, and WHIP. The only thing it is lacking is post 2000 players with only Posada's season being used. I hope I'm not penalized by generational bias but if so, it is what it is. Collins and Speaker were 2 of the 10 best players of the pre 1950 era. Joss had a 5 year spanned that rivaled anyone not named Koufax and died at 31 from minengitis or who knows what his career stats might be. His delivery combined Luis Tiant's body turn with Tekulve/Quisenberry submarining made him almost impossible to hit and he is the career WHIP leader and second all time in ERA.. The Big Red Machine's results speak for themselves. I humbly ask for your vote.

This is a very close race so far, so I'm going to actually give a more in depth look at my roster.

C - Roy Campanella 3x MVP in only 9 years of playing. He also owns the distinction of throwing out the highest percentage of base runners all-time.

1B - Joey Votto - career OBP of .421, sets up great hitting behind of Ichiro and ahead of Mays. He's been an all-star, MVP, Gold Glove winner, and an asset in the clubhouse.

2B - Robinson Cano - career .302 hitter with 324 HR's, 2 Gold Gloves, 5x Silver Slugger.

3B - Adrian Beltre - 93.6 career WAR, 477 HR's, 5x Gold Glove winner.

SS - Barry Larkin - 3x Gold Glove, 12x Silver Slugger, MVP, a bunch of All-Star teams.

LF - Moises Alou/Eric Davis - Alou can play both corners, owns a career .302 avg, and is a 6x All-Star. Davis can man any position in the outfield, and in his prime from 86-89 was one of the most dynamic players during that time. 2x All-Star, 2x Gold Glove, 3x Silver Slugger.

CF - Willie Mays - he's a top 3 player if All-Time...

RF - Ichiro - had he came over a few years earlier he likely would have had over 4k hits. He also excels in the field with his 10 Gold Gloves, to go along with his MVP, 2x Batting Champion, 3x Silver Slugger, and All-Star MVP.

Bench:

OF - Eric Davis/Moises Alou - besides the explanation above, Davis adds a speed/power option off the bench vs RHP and can play any OF position. Alou adds good defense and good hitting with the ability to play the corners in the OF.

SS/3B - Maury Wills - a good switch hitter with unbelievable speed who can play either SS or 3B. He's got 2 Gold Gloves, MVP, and had 104 steals in one season.

C/1B - Victor Martinez - another switch hitter who does well on both sides of the plate. He owns a career .295 avg, and .360 OBP (.409 in 2014). He's also a 5x all-star and 2x Silver Slugger award winner.

Pitching:

SP Johan Santana LHP - posted an ERA under 3.0 5 out of 7 years in his prime, won 2 Cy Youngs, 3x ERA Champion, had a WHIP below 1.099 5 consecutive seasons.

SP Roy Halladay RHP - 2.37 ERA in the post season, which also includes a no-hitter. 8x All-Star, 2x Cy Young.

SP C.C. Sabathia LHP - 1 Cy Young, 6x All-Star. A dominant lefty in his prime.

SP Don Drysdale RHP - 2.95 career ERA, CY Young, 9x All-Star, MLB POY. Had 6 shutouts in a row.

Closer - Francisco Rodriguez RHP - 6x All-Star, 2x Rolaids Relief Pitcher of the year. He's the owner of the 4th most saves all-time and leads everyone else who has played 16 seasons or less like him.

Fred McGriff - Top 250 all time in runs and hits and top 100 in OBP, homeruns walks, and RBI. Hit 303 with 10 homeruns in 50 postseaston games. 1 x WS.

Tony Perez - HOF, top 250 all time in runs, hits and top 100 in total base, doubles, homers and RBI. 2 x WS champ

Eddie Collins - HOF top 100 in BA, OBP, SB, R, H, D, T and BB. First all time in sacrifice bunts. 4 x WS champ.

Dave Concecpcion - top 250 in hits, doubles, SB. Top 100 in singles, assists, putouts, and double plays. 2 x WS champ & hit 297 in 34 postseason games.

Pete Rose - Possibly the hardest worker in the history of the game and the toughest competitor. All time leader in hits, games played, plate appearances, at bats, top 100 in singles, doubles, triples, MVP, 3 x WS 17 all star appearances, 3 time hitting champion.

Tony Phillips - Top 250 in OBP, R, SINGLES. Top 100 in BB. 1 X WS. Played over 100 games at 6 different positions in his career.

Wille Stargell - HOF. Top 100 in TB, SLG, OPS, HR, RBI. Top 250 in Runs and doubles. MVP, 2XWS

Tris Speaker - HOF. Top 250 in slg, Top 100 in BA, OBP, RBI, OPS, R. tOP 10 in hits and triples and the all time leader in doubles. MVP, 3XWS CHAMP, Hit 306 in postseason

Al Kaline - HOF. Top 100 in singles, doubles, omers, hits BB and RBI 2 X MVP, 18 X ALL STAR AND WS CHAMP. 10 Gold Gloves. Hit 333 in postseason.

Johnny Bench - HOF. Long recognized as the undisputed best catcher in the history of the game. Top 250 slg, doubles, top 100 HR and RBI. 2 X MVP, 2 X WS, 14 X AS, 10 X GG, Hit 255 with 10 HR in 45 postseason games.

Jorge Posada - Top 250 doubles and walks. 125 postseason games, 4xWS CHAMP.

Addie Joss - HOF. All time leader in WHIP (0.968), 2nd all time in ERA (1.89), 45 Career shutouts in only 9 seasons. Died at 31 from menegitis and was so good, the HOF ignored their own rule that you had to play at least 10 year to be inducted so they could vote him in.

Whitey Ford HOF. Top 250 in WHIP, Top 100 in ERA, WIN AND finished with a 690 winning percentage. 10 X AS, 6 X WS, 2.71 ERA AND 1.137 WHIP in 22 postseason games.

Phil Niekro - HOF. The master of the knuckleball/ 300 plus wins for mostly terrible teams and was a 5 X GG WINNER AND AS.

Don Gullett. - Had a first class ticket to the HOF before injuries derailed him. One of only a scant handful of players to be on 4 consecutive world series champions.

John Franco - The main closer for both the Reds and the Mets in the 80's. A tough lefty who could get players out on both sides of the plate.
