Even voting will take a lot longer than the NBA draft. To be fair, this takes quite a bit of thought. Good write-ups will be very helpful.

My strategy in this draft being the 14th draft spot out of 16 players was to be different.

My 1st 3 picks was HOF-Elite Starting Pitching (Greg Maddux, Randy Johnson and Lefty Grove) According to this ranking I drafted 3 out of the best 5 starting pitchers of all time.

My 4th starter Gerrit Cole is a modern day masterpiece along with my mid-relief/closer Josh Hader who just won back to back NL Reliever of the year rewards.

Offensively I drafted for a combination of average and power. I think my pieces complement each other perfectly.

Not only that I have Ozzie Smith and Andruw Jones both are considered the best defensive players ever for their position as late inning defensive subs. Along with Roger Maris who crushed 61 homeruns which is THE Single Season Record for HR (Non-Steroid) as a deadly pitch hitter or starter if needed.

Joe Torre is damn good Player/Manager.... just ask the Yankees.

Nice team @UKNorse- the draft was enjoyable and appreciate the effort you and others have put into it..

I drafted a team around players that were either in many pressure situations of the playoffs or the hype of major cities- or players that were known to have a combination of power and patience (smart hitters).

Ted Williams- arguably the greatest hitter of all time- having a career batting average of .344 and OBP .486 best of all time

Wade Boggs reached base safely in 85% of games he played in- he also sat down with Ted a few times to talk about the basics of hitting-

Honus Wagner- the greatest SS of all time by many- and known to have one of the best baseball brains of any player- very versatile and a knew how to get on base any way possible- seems like the perfect lead off hitter in this situation- labeled as the Flying Dutchman

Willie McCovey- power hitter who led the league in OPS (OBP + Slugging) for three straight seasons.

The other players of my team have postseason experience- Bernie Williams is at the top of many list with regards to postseason stats.

Joe Gordon- 5 time World Series Champion "We're not afraid of DiMaggio or Keller but we fear Gordon said Dodgers GM before 41 World Series" He brought power to a position that did not have much of it before his time. Actually beat out his teammate in this Ted Williams for an MVP award in the same yr Ted won the Triple Crown.

Andre Dawson- 400 HR and 300 SB club despite injuries. 6 straight gold gloves

A mix of power in hitting and arms in the two catchers- Ernie was said to have had one of the stronger arms in the history of the spot.

Some DH hitters that will focus on lefty pitching- Martinez and Stanton

Thank you sir... definitely was a struggle making 8 threads tonight going back and forth between everyones writes up. Easily the longest time I've made a playoff bracket in 4-5 years lol.

Good luck you have a good team as well.

For pitchers- I wanted guys that knew how to win in the postseason- the importance of a closer was big for me- in a draft like this- all are good but none better than Rivera

Schilling- postseason great- 4-1 2.06 era

Palmer- 6 WS- 4-2-- never allowed a grand slam

Lincecum two really, really good seasons- 20 IP in WS games- 2-0--2.25 era 23 strikeouts to 1 HR

Chris Sale is the lefty- picked him because of his high strikeout ability- and imo in his prime was one of a kind in the league.

This is an interesting matchup. At first glance I prefer @LukaszObrzut as I think his position players are better but I'm convinced this series is pitcher dominate. @UKNorse is far ahead in pitching staff. @UKNorse , I think your pitching staff is the only one equal to or better than mine.

I'm not sure the duo of Honus and Ted will get the respect they deserve here- their stats and recognitions are incredible.

Wagner by all accounts would have translated on and off the field in todays game- very well respected, hard working and earned the praise from teammates

The 6th player on the pitcher list that UKNorse has listed Bob Feller- Ted Williams was .347/.467/.677

Andre Dawson was 1 of only 3 members in the 400/300 club
Wade Boggs was a 162 average over .400 OBP guy.
Bernie 2nd in postseason hits of all time

Name recognition goes a long way- especially modern day names like Randy Johnson and Greg Maddux- but my hitters are from top to bottom are not simply looking for Home Runs- we want OBP w/a good mix of power-

Modern day players like Stanton and Martinez crush lefties-

I chose my pitchers and admit that not all of these guys would be at first glance ones that jump off the page- but all in their primes were not only WS champion pitchers but also very well accomplished-- with the exception of Sale- who imo in his prime did not get to pitch in the Postseason and is accounted for strike outs per 9 innings.

And heck i guess we're playing in Coors advantage- since his top 2 players are Rockies- Ted Williams is very excited.

Far and ahead? Love opinions- and to be honest from an outsider view had i not done the research I agree- mostly because yeah I grew up watching the 90's and those are big names.

However, what's not to like what Schilling, Lincecum and Palmer brought to the postseason? Lincecum was an absolute stud for two seasons- and saw those numbers translate to WS-
Schilling- notorious for his pitching in October.
Jim Palmer is also- very fair in what he's accomplished in winning games.

Mariana Rivera is the best closer in the history of the game- and postseason is like no other- incredible really. 0.99 ERA in 7 WS. Wow.

Chris Sale per 9 innings pitch is off the charts comparable to Randy Johnson (i'm in no way saying he's randy johnson because he's not) the premise is though- strike out rate- now obviously a smaller sample size but 10 strikeouts in 5 innings pitched is great and is reliable to strike guys out when needed, in my eyes, in his prime.

I gotcha and others will see it differently than I do. I was pretty torn really. Modern has nothing to do with Maddux and Johnson, they ar ed both top 10 pitchers ever.

I'm glad my pitching is getting recognition it is something I went hard and early after.

I do wonder peoples thoughts on my bats however. By all accounts yes they aren't the Babe Ruth or Ty Cobbs of the MLB universe but they are solid to great hitters.

Easily can produce enough runs IMO to complement my pitching staff

I do wish each team had picked a home ball park that they felt was best for their team to play in- that would've been pretty cool.

I definitely reached on Rivera too quickly it seems-
He's the type of a guy I figured would carry more weight- and in real in game format give the team more confidence.

I was taking him with my next pick to further bolster my pitching staff. So you got him at the right time if you think you needed him.
